On the flip side I suspect that this is just Trump doing what he has done many times before and creating a big todo by posing a hypothetical in public in order to divert attention from something else. I don't see this as him playing the media. I see this as him almost behaving like an angry child. To me, he is basically saying, "If you stick with your fake news, bullshit liberal media investigation long enough to try to pin something on me or my family, I'll just pardon us all, including myself, so you might as well just give it up and leave me alone."

Trump has made a career out of long protracted legal proceedings. Trump's federal class action suit was the second longest case on the San Diego docket, Trump dragged it out for 10 years. Whatever comes up, guaranteed, he'll drag it out as long as possible to finish his term and he & his team bitch all day, every day, claiming Trump is the victim.
