Trump... Who's drawing lines in the sand now ???
So "The Donald" Trump promises "FIRE AND FURY" of the U.S. if they "DON'T STOP THE THREATS" and has drawn a line in the sand which was most immediately crossed within 2 hours by North Korea in a threat to bomb Guam, a territory of the U.S. that is home to a lot of military assets. Both in man power and technology as well as armaments.
Such a hypocrite in almost everything he has stated against Obama in Syria. I guess that is just politics as usual. More swamp ! But never mind any of that, he is most assuredly going to push this into a escalation of historic proportions unless his advisors talk some sense into him. I am sorry but we don't have 10 years for Trump to get up to speed on how this game is played. But we are a bit lucky since the folks with most of the lives at risk are South Korean should this escalate to true acts of warfare. So it is easy to spout-off when you have less blood at risk. Not that we don't have a bunch of troops at the DMZ. It's just that we can't shoot all the missles that go that way. But I did find it interesting that Trump wanted to claim credit for nuclear weapons upgrading that has been going on a few years before he took office. Yes, you see a 'upgrade' of systems is required periodically since it cost more to maintain old nuclear stockpiles that it does to de-commision and build new ones. Plus you have this 'safety factor' to deal with. The order that Trump signed has not been set out to contract for bid yet. Still in paperwork phase. But perhaps in 2 years it will be acted on in some real way with results. Till then, thank Obama. But, if not for the no-knock warrant in the Russia Investigation, we may not have herd of Russia for a day ! But watching the social media comments, I really don't think most have a real grip on the implications of what is happening. Especially if it continues to escalate with loose lips. Much like the situation in Syria, it is a complicated regional picture to deal with. Japan will want Nuclear options or higher lever of defense and that will upset the Chinese just for starters. This could easily trigger a Asian arms build-up like we have never seen. And not beneficial to the U.S. in any shape or form. I would ask everyone to think about this for a while before throwing any kind of support for military action in the blind. At least be sure the calmer heads in the Pentagon are giving advise that is making it's way to the Presidents ears. Because there are no good options, just some where less get killed immediately. But I know they are working on a new set of military solutions. The political solutions are running a bit dry at the moment. |

Will it work better than Obama's policy of ignoring him?

Well, there is this tiny issue of NK's number of conventional missiles aimed at SK that out number the anti-missiles to bring them down by 2 to 1.
And that is the only reason everyone has not used the military option to this point. Don't you think South Korea has a say in this ? They will loose 100's of thousands of citizens (perhaps over 1M) and their economic way of life will come to a quick end. That all assumes nobody uses nuclear weapons. |

Oops: Wrongsies.
Three Presidents Facing North Korea - A Review of U.S. Foreign Policy | HuffPost Negotiations and diplomacy are always better than war. I'm terrified for the people of North Korea, South Korea and Guam because I doubt Trump understands this.
