Site packaging question for program owners
I have three groups of sites, Karen?s Dream Pass (6 sites), DawnAvril Diamond Pass (2 sites), and the phil-flash Platinum Pass (15 sites).
My current setup is when a person joins a site, they become a Dream Pass, Diamond Pass, or Platinum Pass member, depending on which site they joined. Today, I added a new join option that would allow them to buy the ?Ultimate Pass?. Which gets them access to all 3 pass sites (23 sites). My question to you is, would you keep this model, or would you offer special offers on the ccbill flex forms to the other two pass sites, and why? |

I would test both models.
A lot depends on your traffic, how well it converts and what volume we are talking. The higher the volume the better you might do upselling your other Passes. But if you want to maximize revenue per visitor then try a one year option for $99.95 or thereabouts (also good for discount offers and mailings). But whatever you try definitely A-B test for sure. Good luck!!

Is your cost per site close to the same per month?
Choose 5 sites minimum for 29.95 ... then each additional added is $5/mo Let the customer build the package that they want. Choice is a good thing and then you can have upsells and special values to offer later. The *pass* model is too 1999 sounding to me |

The intention of the pass, and enormous amount of content, is a slow but solid growth plan I have implemented. It may sound 1999ish, but how long has netflix been rebilling for almost everyone here?

I meant Your cost (content acquisition + operational overhead) COGS
Nothing is more boring than to choose from 3 preselected packages. I think you should test a base package with customer selected add ons -- and then look at the average customer spend per subscription. When I was first learning how to sell and market products to customers; we were taught to define a need, then show a customer 2 alternatives to satisfy that need -- and force them to choose one solution -- then acknowledge that they made a wise decision and take their money or get them to OK the order (PO a commercial B2B sale). Talk at them and force a choice. I don't think today's buyer is that easy to lead into a decision. And Netflix is raising their price again -- I may just move their subscription over to a Amazon Prime add on like HBO if I do not see some added value at Netflix for my increased cost. I don't see your Netflix analogy at all. I am going to guess that 90% of Netflix subscribers buy the base HD package for $12.00/mo. If Netflix offered me a sci-fi channel with more, better, or original content -- I might pay for it -- because I like sci-fi content. They don't offer me that choice -- so I do to have a decision to make -- they have no upsell opportunity either. |

Go fuck yourself
I reject you narrow mindedness. It is a defensive crock of shit. I have sold various products for over 40 years -- the concepts are the same I also hate copycats with unoriginal ideas |

Wow... some funny stuff posted up there.
I was thinking about some of that sales stuff you wrote Barry. It all makes sense, but I am not sure how to apply it to my set up. Nor am I sure if it applies. I dont think I am marketing anything really, the sites are sitting there, and at minimum, slightly interested potential customers are landing on my pages. My join offerings are at the bottom of every single page, so the potential customer can choose between joing for 30 days, a year, or getting all 3 passes. It?s not even 24 hours yet, and I snagged 3 sales to the ?ultimate pass? already. I think I have found the answer I sought. I am interested in some example techniques of creating a need to potential customers though. How do you do that? Creative text? |

What ever works.
Creating a need: well he has a need if he is looking at porn LOL. You can't just ask what gets you off -- too embarrassing sometimes. You might be able to offer leading propositions. If you have diversity in your content that is one way -- let him chose his interest path. If your content is of just a few areas of interests think if how you can possibility segment your content offerings to that buyer's interests. It is always easier to sell a customer on what he wants -- getting to that point is not easy for most. I am just offering another idea. What about the customer that COULD buy just one site at $7 to $10 but faced with packages he cannot afford every month -- he just walks away? I like to sell everyone I can and still make a profit. A friend of mine who has made millions is always saying any profit is a good one. The easiest guy to upsell is the man you have already sold and delivered a positive experience with satisfactory or exemplary value to. Talk to me about profitable customer acquisition ... That makes a business work long term. It is hard to make a customer a friend in this business. I personally stepped in with a customer and solved his VPN and purchasing issues, he was a established customer who was traveling in Africa, an oil engineer as I recall. I sorted out the problem with our captive processing system admin -- that man bought $1,000 in cam credits that week -- holy fuck -- definitely worth my time. Cams is different I know that but solve a person's issues an make him feel a valued customer. Even if he was a little fish -- in my book it is worth the effort. Success is incremental. |

I remember years ago, there was a site I would want to join, but they didn't offer an individual join, only a multi pass for lots of sites I didn't want as well as the one I did. Always put me off, in fact I probably would have joined the one I wanted for the same price as the multi pass, but the concept that I was paying for sites I didn't want irritated me, stopped the sale.
There is a key difference though, my example was of different niches packaged together, whereas same niche, like the Phil Flash sites, that should work better.
