I can understand for a model, they using a fake ID to perform

however, if the ID is in my name, and the bank account is in my name, it can be safe to assume that its my bank and ID

I had to send ID's for my merchant accounts (one U.S. The other in Europe), as well as a photo of the front of my house, and photo of my work area in my office, so makes sense affiliates would send photo ID, maybe it deters money laundering?

Seems to be a thing now.

For anyone doing this, make sure you watermark the image (or hold up an extra piece of card or something) that clearly states the date and the name of the company you are giving this information to. This ties it to a specific verification request.

I bet there's some companies that keep these images insecurely, tucked away in an email archive somewhere. You don't want generic verification photos or documents falling into the wrong hands.

My banks know who I am.

I think it is payments by US entities/or persons to Foreign Persons -- in general.

For instance, now that I think of it, Western Union contacted me about verifying a foreign person's address to whom I send small money to occasionally. A couple of months ago. So, it may be just payments from Americans to Foreign nationals.

The back of U.S. ID's have a barcode and identifying info to identify you. When I use Instacart to deliver booze to my door, they scan the back of my ID, not the front, to verify age, address, licence #, etc.

I have not received that recently as an affiliate, but they made me send that over and over and over again, when I was attempting to do some BTS livestreaming of shoots. I finally just gave up.

Whenever a company starts doing that sort of thing connected to payouts, though, it makes me worry that they are about to go out of business.

In Chaturbate's instance, it may just be serious lack of organization and poorly trained outsourced workers organizing the paperwork, but the ID gambit and similar hurdles to paying what a company owes are usually serious red flags.

It is common in mainstream. IF you want to get paid you need to submit an ID and a signed w8/w9 form.

If they are asking to see your ID held up to your face it is probably because they couldn't determine if it was truly yours.

I am a US resident with a TIN (tax identity number) and have furnished W9 's -- and have never been asked for photo id from any sponsors paying me.

This is about international transfers of money from the USA. Until I have personal knowledge otherwise.
