GOP State Senator Nicholas Kettle charged with video voyeurism, extortion

Rhode Island state Sen. Nicholas Kettle (R-Coventry) was arrested on a count of video voyeurism and two counts of extortion, WPRI reported Friday.

The investigation started after Sen. Kettle left his iPad at his then-girlfriend?s house. She went through the photos, found unauthorized pictures of her, and filed a complaint with police.

State Police Lt. Col. Joseph Philbin said the case includes Kettle sharing the pictures with a person outside of Rhode Island.

?He?s about 5?3″ weighs about 125 pounds soaking wet and a young 27 years old,? Paul DiMaio, Sen. Kettle?s defense attorney claimed. ?He?s terrified.?

Previously, Sen. Kettle admitted to creating a fake social media profile to attack political enemies and in December paid a $2,000 fine for a campaign finance violation and forfeited $4,000 from his campaign account.

Former Warren County Republican chairman pleads guilty to incest charge, is arrested again

According to an arrest report filed on May 11, Halvorsen performed sex acts with his adult biological daughter between June 1, 2016 and Oct. 30, 2016.

Warren County Attorney Doug Eichholz said his daughter is a victim of a crime and will not be charged.

Halvorsen, 59, posted $5,000 on May 12 and is now out on bail.

A no contact order has been filed against Halvorsen, which states he is not supposed to posses, ship or transfer firearms or weapons as a condition of his release.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 23 at the Marion County Courthouse. Halvorsen is facing a class "D" felony.

Rebel Snodgrass has been serving as the chairman of the Warren County Republicans since March. Snodgrass said Friday morning he was unaware of the charges against Halvorsen.

Halvorsen had previously served as chair as early as 2014 through 2017.

According to a biography on Halvorsen on the Warren County GOP's website, he served at least three terms as chairman and was co-chair of the local party for several years.

"At this time I have a burning desire to help put limits back on government in as many ways as possible, because I believe that the meddling of our government in places they shouldn't have been meddling is a great part of why our economy has crashed," Halvorsen wrote. "I feel that all of the life experiences I have lived through all these years will lend itself well to me someday should I decide to run for an elected office in the future, but for now my goal is to help take back control of the Republican Party from those who have hijacked it and don't have the values in mind that were in the forefront when the Republican (sic) was started."
