New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood sued President Donald Trump and his charitable foundation on Thursday, alleging that the president and his adult children illegally used the private foundation for personal, business, and political expenses.

The lawsuit alleges illegal activity that took place over more than a decade, including “extensive unlawful political coordination with the Trump presidential campaign, repeated and willful self-dealing transactions to benefit Mr. Trump’s personal and business interests, and violations of basic legal obligations for non-profit foundations.”

"As our investigation reveals, the Trump Foundation was little more than a checkbook for payments from Mr. Trump or his businesses to nonprofits, regardless of their purpose or legality," Underwood said in a statement. "This is not how private foundations should function and my office intends to hold the Foundation and its directors accountable for its misuse of charitable assets."

It's not motivation, it's experience. This happens all the time on both sides. If Trump is going to have something good happen for him, there is a counter-narrative ready to try and take it's place. It works the other way as well - when Trump has something damaging to him come out, there is a positive counter-narrative floated out there to take some sting out.

Logic doesn't enter the picture in this case - it's just experience.

I haven't seen any good leaks yet. Like you mentioned, just some criticisms but I haven't heard of any criminal referrals. Honest people are just looking for the truth. I formed my opinion that they were dirty many years ago by "their business practices" over the years. They have been shady to say the very least and it is my opinion that they are a crime family. Trump is not a subject of this OIG report. I believe it will be good for him IF it shows political bias inside the agencies that were infiltrating his campaign. However, they are separate issues.

IF the report is good for Trump, then a counter-narrative of "Here is why Trump sucks today" is a typical response to mitigate it.

I don't know anything about the NY issue and therefore don't have an opinion yet. I'm old fashioned that way.
