My home town does a all day event on the 4th of July, including a $20k fireworks show. Each year we raise $40k for the event. Over ten thousand people show up. We have to pay for the bands, the kid zone, the pool, rent the park, generators, fire and police, porta potties.... and so on.

$20k sounds like extremely cheap.
Like too cheap; sounds like you are ignoring some of the accompanying expenses.
