Carson's closing all 200 stores laying off 3,500 employees

#ThanksTrump

In business 160 years but couldn't survive the Trump presidency.

Carson's to cut 3,500 employees in Illinois as it closes all stores

More than 3,500 Carson’s employees in Illinois will lose their jobs this summer as the department store chain shuts down.

The company’s 35 stores in Illinois, plus two distribution centers, will shutter by Aug. 31, though some may close sooner depending on how much merchandise remains, spokeswoman Christine Hojnacki said in an email Thursday.

Other companies reporting layoffs to the state were Swap.com in Bolingbrook, an e-commerce site for secondhand clothes, which laid off 196 people between March 30 and April 2, according to the report. The reason given for the layoff was “financial.” The company did not immediately respond to request for comment.

West Liberty Foods announced the potential layoff of 184 of its 1,200 employees at its manufacturing plant in Bolingbrook, resulting from decisions to shut down a chicken deboning line and move roast beef production to Iowa, said Dan Waters, vice president and general counsel at the West Des Moines, Iowa-based meat processer.

The layoffs, which will be effective June 29, primarily affect production workers hired this year, he said. He expects the impact to be mitigated by the reassignment of affected workers to other positions as they become available.

Couldn't survive the fact no one buys from these places any more.. To be quite honest Trump was cheering the internet tax for this very reason.. Because they believe it will help B&M retail establishments.. But it won't...

Trump says everything is great with the economy, the best ever, despite inflation, a self created trade war & mass nationwide layoffs

Maybe?

That's what they said about Toys R Us when they closed recently. However, when you dig a little deeper..... Amazon had nothing to do with it. Toys R Us in Canada is doing fine. The problem is Mitt Romney's company bought Toys R Us and ran it into the ground. Sears is going under too, it's the same shit - it's not Amazon, it's crappy management.

Do people still go to shopping malls? You seem like the type of person that enjoys going to the mall.

Wow. Yea. I haven't been to a mall since I was a teenager. Even then it was only to go to the smoke shop to pick up a pack of cloves.

For a lot of towns the mall is the only place to hang out and have fun. A lot of malls have the only movie theater in town.

As Rochard said it's just crappy management. These places are bought out by other conglomerates while millions in debt and expect to be able to turn a profit. Eventually the house of cards falls.

- A bit like what will happen to the US economy soon..

Why would I go to a store and pay more? people suck.
The future will be Amazon & Walmart the rest will continue to fold. Adapt or die.
