More than 1,000 people have already downloaded plans to 3-D print an AR-15

Will you be printing one ?

Do-it-yourself firearms like The Liberator have been nicknamed "Ghost Guns" because they don't have serial numbers and are untraceable.
On the website run by Defense Distributed people can download plans for building the Liberator, as well as files for an AR-15 lower receiver, a complete Baretta M9 handgun and other firearms. Users also will be able to share their own designs for guns, magazines and other accessories.
The site on Monday showed more than 12,000 downloads of seven different models of guns.
The high-end 3-D printers needed to make such weapons cost thousands of dollars and may be too expensive for most people. But that doesn't ease the concerns of those who think 3-D printed guns are a really bad idea.

Metal AR-15's lock up easily as the barrel heats up, I can only imagine a 3D print AR-15 doing so much more quickly.

Any idea how much it costs to actually print one? Not the cost of the printer, but the materials and time put into it. Some of that 3D printing stuff can get expensive fast.

$25-$35 in ABS
A $900 printer will do the job

you've been able to download bomb making recipes since the day the internet started, the old "anarchists cookbook" was one of the first. It hardly changed the world , but it did change a few lives who used it with shit blowing up in their face.

I wonder how many make these guns and need a 911 call first usage.

I like how you believe that something like that, something in which you DOWNLOAD, is something you believe is completely untraceable...

People whom work online should know better.

Although the initial downloader could be traced, when the STL file is loaded onto a sim card it can be copied and shared with as many people as want it and that cannot be traced ? It won't be long before these pop up on E-Bay ?

And when that inevitably happens the knee jerk reaction will be to ban uploading this type of file to the internet. Sadly it will be way too late as millions of cops will circulate on various websites for years.

Once this toothpaste is out of the tube, it won't be going back in. Or is it already out?

All it takes is for one copy to get downloaded and then it exists forever on the internet, growing like the cancer some of you should get for thinking this is good for society.

so you make criminals out of people that have the right to do so?? buying the rifle is not illegal in most states. some states banned assault rifles instead of getting rid of street drugs. blame gun violence on gangs instead of drugs sales

3D gun plans website suspends downloads after court ruling

Sadly this is way too late!

A gun rights group that has posted plans for 3D guns blocked downloads from its website on Tuesday after a federal judge sided with states that argued the postings could help criminals and terrorists manufacture such weapons.

Exactly. They don't understand that all these 3d things are just toys. Some kiddie toys and nothing else. Can you "print" a steel barrel? A shutter for it? From plastic? Some people just very dumb to think about these things.

The second post in this thread says basically just that, not to mention they're prone to backfiring.

Of course you can print in steel, the only issue is the price of the machine. At around $100,000+ they are out of reach of most people. Problem is the costs are coming down very fast and within a few years they will be affordable.

You can get desktop water jets, desktop plasma cutters, you can print in clay, you can print living tissue, you can even print pancakes. The advances in 3D printing are staggering with new shit being announced every week.

But in this instance the metal parts could be CNC from the same STL file. A CNC machine can be had for under a $1000.00 capable to milling steel.

No you can't. You can print in steel something like... I don't know a tooth maybe, but you can't print a barrel for the assault rifle. Even with $100 thousand printing machine. You just can't.

You are so WRONG. Maybe in your part of the world but here in the USA its been done, here' the link and this was made in 2013 the advances in 3D printing since then are tenfold

https://www.ammoland.com/2014/07/mer...#axzz5MtgHzbM6

Anyway you don't need to print the barrel as that can easily be made on a simple gun lathe that anyone can purchase

The gun is composed of 38+ Stainless Steel and Inconel components 3D printed using a metal printer as well as a 3D printed nylon hand grip. Never before had a gun been 3D printed completely in metal and been proven completely functional. As of this month, the very first 3D printed metal gun has been through 4700 rounds without failure.

I suggest before making uneducated remarks on GFY, you do some research on the web and you will see that the site that was making these STL files available dose not suggest the gun barrel for the AR15 be printed.

I didn't get it. You have an assault rifle, which is made of printed materials? Printed? All of them? No steel hardening? No barrel grinding? Just printing? And it's not some kiddie toy. It's a fuckin' assault rifle? For real?

Ok. Maybe I'm very uneducated and I live 10 years ago, but at least I'm in a sane mind.

You print the lower receiver, the receive is the "gun"
You can buy a barrel, and everything else.

The reality is that it really will. The one must be a real idiot to trust to a printed gun. Course 5.56 won't take your arm off, but it can take out your eye. And this is no fun at all.

BTW, I will never trust to a riffle made in China, Bulgaria or Africa. Because of this:

This is a good example for all those rambos who "print" assault rifles at home. In this video you see AK74. It really does look like it, but in fact it's not. If you watch at the metal parts of it, you will see it was made of shit in some 3rd-world country. So theoretically it's AK74 assault riffle, but in fact it's just a toy. A toy which can hurt you (you as a shooter) very much... Now just think about "printed" weapon.

Mycoplasma - a sexualy transmitted bacteria which was reproduced by humans, not by Jesus Christ. For real - we just created a new life: World''s first living synthetic cell created.

Did i say a living creature ? No i said living tissue, READ MUCH ?

A team of researchers from the University Medical Centre Utrecht in the Netherlands have created a biofabrication method to create living tissues that replicate cartilage and could potentially be implanted to repair damaged joints.

Experienced by millions and millions across the world, arthritis is a physical disability that nearly one in ten people will have to battle during their lifetime. Arthritis acts by breaking down the cartilage tissue found in joints, which leads to stiffness and swelling, resulting in pain and discomfort for those who develop the condition.

However, at the University Medical Centre Utrecht in the Netherlands, Professor Jos Malda and has research team have created a 3D printable bioink that could allow damaged joints to heal themselves. The bioprinted tissues can be implanted into a living joint, where it would eventually mature into a new tissue and behave like healthy cartilage. This research is being conducted as a part of a project called 3D-JOINT.

https://all3dp.com/3d-printing-livin...ate-arthritis/

Or

University of Oxford Develops Method of 3D Printing Living Tissues

The bioprinting approach developed with Oxford University is very exciting, as the cellular constructs can be printed efficiently at extremely high resolution with very little waste. The ability to 3D print with adult stem cells and still have them differentiate was remarkable, and really shows the potential of this new methodology to impact regenerative medicine globally.”

Catch up, the world is changing and you are getting left behind !

That's not 3d printed living tissue. That is a genetically modified bacteria with synthetic DNA.

Did i say a living creature ? No i said living tissue, READ MUCH ?
Well.. logically, if you can create living tissue you should be able to create a living creature at some point.

Yes they do create parts of human tissue, but that is created from real cells, not some artifical shit. This was possible even before 3d printing (skin).

If you are referring to the image of the cute blond model i posted weeks ago, she is 28 years old and the e-mail she sent me said she was born in Czechoslovakia the name changed 25 years ago.

To be honest i could care less what you call your third world country. But you keep posting trying to be right it just makes you more stupid, if thats possible ?

I suggest before making uneducated remarks on GFY, you do some research on the web and you will see that the site that was making these STL files available dose not suggest the gun barrel for the AR15 be printed.
