Let's Talk Toothbrushes.

How do you handle your toothbrush?

Do you just use it twice a day and stick it in a jar or glass by the sink?

Do you worry about germs?

People shitting in your bathroom. People spraying odour spray in your bathroom. People doing all sorts of nasty shit in your bathroom.

Do you look after your toothbrush?

LMK

I don't have a lot of people in my bathroom, also not worried about a few germs floating around.

I don't have enough teeth left to warrant regular cleaning, but I still poo on my toothbrush daily, in order for a quick 'freshen up'

I have a cover on my electric toothbrush to prevent germs. No bathroom near it. At home I had a similar setup

I’m looking for an Oral-B battery toothbrush as the company sent me a coupon for a free one. I’m shopping today after the doctors appointment.

I used to have long nails and kept an old toothbrush just for nail cleaning. It’s right there and fortunately I never confused them. When my ex lived with me, I warned him to be careful..... sharing toothbrushes is yucky

A very sensible question, it's a subject that people don't pay enough attention to IMHO

Something i learnt about 20 years ago is that a damp toothbrush is the ideal breeding ground for germs. Just putting your toothbrush inside a case or container will exacerbate the situation. I used to dry my brush with a hair dryer which was time consuming and more often than not destroyed the toothbrush.

After some investigation i found that UVC light kills 99.9% of all germs and set about finding some sort of light i could use with my toothbrush. In the end i found the TAO Clean Aura Clean Sonic Toothbrush and Cleaning Station on a website called https://www.touchofmodern.com/sales I picked one up for $49.00 when it was listed on special ( not always available on this site). Amazon have them all the time for around $89.00.

This has worked well for years now, my only slight issue is that the replaceable heads are a little soft and only last about 2-3 weeks. Other than that im extremely happy with it.

I've been using charcoal tooth brushes for sometime now and highly recommend them, they have like 4x the bristles of other tooth brushes which are softer and clean all between your teeth when brushing, plus the added stain removing benefit from the charcoal.

https://thecharcoaltoothbrush.com/

but really the thing that fixed my teeth was switching from yearly scale and clean to twice yearly, since I did that never had any issues.

I brush twice a day, mouthwash 3 times a day.

I use a Phillips Sonacare, replace the head every few months. There is a little plastic cover for the head as well.

You will always have contamination in your life. It's not necessarily a bad thing, it preps your body to fight real issues. Of course you want to minimize contamination when you can but nothing to be OCD about.

“Oral disease is on the frontline of your ability to live a long healthy life, It’s probably one of the biggest sources of inflammation in the whole body, and [ inflammation] reduces your ability to live a long, healthier life.”

I watched this segment on an Oprah show once where she wanted to find out what single thing you can do that would make you live the longest and after much discussion with experts she brought in, the final conclusion was... brushing your teeth, more so than running, walking, swimming or anything else, oral hygiene was the winner.

Really!

Bacteria from the mouth can easily get into the bloodstream and cause infection and inflammation wherever it spreads. It is important to practice good oral hygiene and to see a dentist regularly in order to avoid serious risk to the body’s overall health. Here are some common and serious health problems caused by bad oral health:

Cardiovascular Disease

Dementia

Respiratory Infections

Diabetes

Pregnancy Complications

Infertility

Erectile Dysfunction

Cancer

Kidney Disease

Rheumatoid Arthritis
