.COM or .NET, which is better ?
Hey gang,
I was going to buy a domain but seems like some jackass has bought the domain and just has it parked. Should I go for the next best thing, which is better, .NET or something like .ORG or .CO Do the alternate ones to .COM rank ? and does this affect web surfers finding your website. |

figure out your base keywords for the site, then do a search and see if there is anything other than .com's in the top 3 pages. I've never been able to find any documented proof that .com's have preference, it may just be that most people prefer .com's so they buy a .com to develop versus one of the 1000's of other domain name endings.

I always prefer .com, if not available I look for .net and .org... eventually other extensions if it's a really good kw.

If you do anything with that .net domain that works, the .com is going to skim traffic from typeins and you'll be in a position where the .com owner has you over a barrel
.com is always best |

.com, but if you can get the .net for now, that's better than nothing. You could always buy/offer for the.com at a later date.
