Now that we’ve cleared things up, it’s time to enter the tournament!

The other day I had some kind of revelation.

Mortal Kombat and affiliate marketing have a lot in common.

Not the game, silly. The movie!

GET OVER HERE!

I know it mind sound silly at first, but give me the chance to prove it’s not that crazy (ok…maybe it is!)

At some point, princess Kitana meets Liu Kang and tells him the following:

If I did not believe in you Liu Kang, I would not have helped you. In the Black Tower, you will face three challenges. You must face your enemy. You must face yourself. And you must face your worst fear.

Are you still here? Good. It’s time to get serious.

FACE YOUR ENEMY

I’m not talking about dueling Shang Sung, though your enemy can take on several forms, just like the sorcerer.

It can be a series of failures that really sap your morale.

It can also be money — or rather, a lack thereof.

Your enemy might be metaphorical, but it should be your main focus nonetheless.

It’s your goal, your raison d’être.

Hopefully your brother doesn’t get killed in the process!

FACE YOURSELF

This is a big one.

The world of affiliate marketing is a business – plain and simple.

You will soon learn about your own limits. About yourself.

How will you bounce back after a failure? What are your weak points?

Are you the right man for the right job?!

Facing yourself is part of the process. Being prepared is the solution.

It can be very enlightening IF you manage to persevere.

FACE YOUR WORST FEAR

Do you fear failure?

Or like Rayden in all his wisdom put it, do you fear to ask for help or of being a fake?

These are all legitimate concerns in the world of affiliate marketing.

You must be able to overcome your fears to be successful.

Remember that “every man is responsible for his own destiny.”

It’s not the political conjecture. It’s not new regulations. Your success starts with YOU!

In other words, you’re the one at the helm. You call the shots – and take responsability.

Don’t sweat your failures: use them as stepping stones toward a greater goal. Living in the past isn’t going to fill your bank account!

AFFILIATE MARKETING IS A BATTLE

When I wrote about the tournament earlier, I really meant it.

When you are promoting products or services online, you are fighting with thousands of affiliates.

Maybe not to the death, but you catch my drift.

It’s ruthless and extremely competitive; you’ll be up against champions from all around the world.

But like with everything in life, you still have a fighting chance thanks to your wits.

Remember that Sub-Zero fight?

It was pretty damn bad. Anticlimactic. Especially compared to Scorpion’s epic battle.

That’s not the point. What I want you to focus on is how Liu Kang was able to defeat a vastly superior fighter using his own element.

To beat other affiliates at their own game, you’ll need a strategy. And maybe a hot princess that gives you hints along the way.

AFFILIATE MARKETING IS LIKE FACING GORO

No one wants to go against a giant four-armed, half-human, half-dragon monstrosity like Goro.

Bad news: you don’t have a choice.

Pretend you’re Johnny Cage and Goro (affiliate marketing) just broke your favorite pair of $500 sunglasses.

Don’t enter the ring without conviction. You should be pumped and strike where it hurts (below the belt if you’ve seen the movie… or any movie, rather.)

Unless you want to be crushed, be a real warrior and invest yourself in what you do, even the little things!

FLAWLESS VICTORY

I hope I was able to bring a smile to your face reading this post.

I had a lot of fun writing this piece. The examples might be sketchy at best, but I really do believe you can learn a thing or two if you set aside the unusual theme.

Affiliate marketing is all about fighting and overcoming your own fears.
