I don't believe anyone could have prevented the malibu fires or any preventive maintenance could have been done. it's mostly dead grass and the dead grass had been cut back from the homes already. I don't think it's possible to stop that in high winds...

On another note... this is just one of the too numerous to count Trump flubs saying it was mismanagement that caused this. This is climate change.

They could have done controlled burns for the grass but yeah, with the high winds any embers travel fast and hot. Sucks all around.

Years ago the Santa Ana winds fuelled a fire that burnt up a lot of Lauguna Beach homes. They're hot fast winds that dry everything out in days and spread fire quickly. They're also know as The Devil Winds

There is no stopping this.

We had a 1000 acre fire by us this summer, miles from my house. There was no leaves there at all to rake - it was all dead grass. What are we going to do, rake hundreds of thousands of acres? How many fires will that start?

If that is not bad enough, sixty percent of forest land in California is owned by the federal government - including the Los Padres National Forest which is where Paradise, California is located. Too bad Trump didn't have all of those leaves raked last month huh?
