What's the best software to rid my computers of Adware/Spyware

It's all in the title. Seems I have something that has polluted my computers andkeeps sending me unwanted messages in a popup window. Also keeps connecting me to spyware. I have Norton Anti Virus installed.

1) Reboot your computer in safe mode

2) Delete all files in your temp directory

3) Run a full Norton virus scan in safe mode

4) Reboot your computer

5) Post here after you are done with a status update

How old are they? If a good few years, why not simply replace them with new ones?

Tech is SO cheap these days. Get a clean PC with a power and speed boost as well.

Yes it is, but not the connection to a site which Norton blocks.

if this resolved the problem it was NOT a virus or spyware.

this is called "push notification" and appears on many sites when you enter. if you click "allow" they can send you such a notification into your browser.

there´s also a way to see to what sites you allowed that and you can turn them on/off
either all or specified.

here is how that works

I've yet to see anything get through windows defender

I run windows 10, use Edge mostly, have IE set on high and use that to open, known risk sites , never had any issues. Malwarebytes is my go to checker, install, run, delete it, but it's always been clear.

When I worked for MSN, first question was... Do you have any Norton products installed... By far the number one PC fucker software.

Siting here outside hotel room in Ao Nang bay, 34c and like 80% humility, pondering if I go smash the hotel musiso, who's strumming out acheybrekyheart

can you send a screenshot ?

or more datails ?

OS and browser version would help

usually this is not a big thing to remove such things but you have to know exactly what you are doing.

btw. i am running my laptops since years only with microsoft defender and never had a problem.
when i used norton last time and tried to immigrate it to the new laptop it crashed and even the norton support that have been like 3 hours on my machine could not fix it.

there is a lot of software crap around. i remember that you have installed a firewall what even prevents you to follow a link to a site that does not have a favicon.
