UH OH! protection racket price increase! south korea complaining about the 50% increase
SEOUL (Reuters) - The United States and South Korea are struggling to narrow differences over the share of the cost of maintaining U.S. troops after a U.S. demand for a 50 percent increase in the South's contribution, a South Korean lawmaker said on Tuesday.
Despite 10 rounds of talks since March, the allies have failed to strike an accord to replace a 2014 deal that expired last year, which requires South Korea to pay about 960 billion won ($848 million) a year for keeping some 28,500 U.S. troops there. U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that South Korea, where the United States has stationed soldiers since the 1950-53 Korean War, should bear more of the cost. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() how to start a protection racket: 1) create problem 2) sell solution 3) increase cost 4) crippety cripp! |

That's Trump trying to fuck up relations with our allies again

This. Also, we do not want to lose one of our strategic posts in Asia. This isn't the type of negotiation we would want to push too far. South Korea could walk away from the table telling us, "Fine, leave." It would be very embarrassing for us to be put in that position.

well your DOD commented on it:
She added that the decision to make hypersonic weapons creates an imbalance that the department must deal with. She said the United States was considering “options” to answer the new weapons. so back to my question, can your THAAD go hypersonic? no? didnt think so...you wasted your money ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

F-35 Stealth Fighter: A "Broken and Obsolete Design" That Can't Fight?
Within days, Australians will get to see the first of the RAAF’s new Joint Strike Fighters—just months after the jet’s noisiest critics told an inquiry it was a ‘jackass of all trades and masterful of none’. Two members of the Air Power Australia group went on to tell the Senate committee the aircraft was ‘a broken and obsolete design, unsuitable for modern combat’. The reality, say Australian fighter pilots and senior members of the ADF with intimate knowledge of the JSF’s capability, is vastly different. https://nationalinterest.org/blog/bu...nt-fight-42212 |
