The new freaking wordpress sucks. Writing a post is like pulling teeth. I don't need "different blocks". I just want to write a damn post.

Instead of writing a paragraph you have to "insert a block" - for a block of text - and if you want that block to include a picture it has to be a "picture block" - no more "insert media button".

Who the fuck decided on this? It's horrible.

Yeah I hate how it moves around and blocks the options to the right when editing. You can change it back easily with a plug in for the record. I think they are trying to dumb it down which is good but for experienced people it’s slower.

Yes... and it is featured on the welcome page. What the idiot has decided to kill the editor which was just... working. I have a long story of communications with the developers and I can admit, these guys are hmm... let's call them unusual.

This new post page is horrible, for some themes where manually input work is needed the posts take 10-20 more seconds to add. Switched to the classic editor the same day, god thanks for plug coders with a soul.

It messed up the back end of my site.

So, in the main edit window I used to be able to scroll down to see the full post I was editing. With Gutenberg, I can't scroll down. To me the update is useless.
Also, it always seems to be saving draft. I literally couldn't do anything because the update was constantly spinning.
Then there are these stupid blocks....

Fuck...

Oh and if you try to revert within Gutenberg it doesn't work.

I also installed classic editor. Really hope Wordpress will admit the mistake and rollback. Seems like they shot themselves in the foot with this one.

If you're deploying a number of sites a headless CMS is the way to go these days.

Not everything is presented on the web anymore and websites aren't necessarily the only thing you need to get your content to.

Glad I spotted this thread. Was about to upgrade several blogs with the new system today, but reading this, no way!

In some ways, this reminds me how how badly Apple fucked up when they went from Final Cut Pro to Final Cut X (basically a badly revamped version of iMovie) some years ago to dumb down the user experience. Adobe Premier had the cash register going KaChing for a long time after that bungle.
