Researchers have studied the whole Fake News thing and turns out people over 65 are the ones who share the most fake news.

"Older Americans are disproportionately more likely to share fake news on Facebook, according to a new analysis by researchers at New York and Princeton Universities. Older users shared more fake news than younger ones regardless of education, sex, race, income, or how many links they shared. In fact, age predicted their behavior better than any other characteristic — including party affiliation."

"Across all age categories, sharing fake news was a relatively rare category. Only 8.5 percent of users in the study shared at least one link from a fake news site. Users who identified as conservative were more likely than users who identified as liberal to share fake news: 18 percent of Republicans shared links to fake news sites, compared to less than 4 percent of Democrats. The researchers attributed this finding largely to studies showing that in 2016, fake news overwhelmingly served to promote Trump’s candidacy."

I see nothing in the dataset to show that.

This is going to be a HUGE problem - Massive. An article I read today said The Daily Caller created and spread fake nude photos of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Think about that for just a moment... What some people consider a legit news site created and spread fake nude pictures of a US Congresswoman. AND if that's not enough, people believe it.

People spread fake news with zero interest in doing research. Some kid I went to high school with posted something the other day - non political - which was quickly proven false. His only defense was "I am not good at tech stuff". Well, if you aren't good at tech stuff you shouldn't be sharing stuff on the internet.

Eventually we will get to the point where you will need to have a verified social media account (meaning you will physically have to walk into an office somewhere to have your ID checked) and AI will rate you based on how much fake news you put out or how much fake news you share.
