First US city to go 100% renewable is losing millions a year

"As Congress debates the Green New Deal resolution to transition the U.S. economy to “net-zero” greenhouse gas emissions, a Texas town struggles under the growing financial burden of going green.

Georgetown has spent $30 million since it began its transition to 100 percent renewable energy in 2016, and, now, city officials are lashing out at local reporters and a conservative think tank for scrutinizing the cost to taxpayers."

.....

"Peacock said the city’s “dogged, almost blind pursuit of renewables” has cost residents $30 million, maybe more, in additional electricity costs because of how it structured its contracts. "

.....

"Now, the city is scrambling to get out of its long-term, fixed-price energy contracts."

"Energy prices plummeted, particularly natural gas prices, meaning the city lost money selling power back to the market. City figures show it exceeded its electricity budget for 2018 by $10.5 million.

City officials are looking for ways to make up the shortfall, including raising electricity rates. Recent rate hikes raised the average resident’s bill about $13 a month to recover losses from selling power on Texas’s electricity market."

I have solar, and I love it. I pay $0 for power these days.

During the day I can burn as much power as I want, and the system automatically sells off the extra power to the power company. I pull power at night, but it balances itself out.

Don't forget to include some anti-vaxxer stuff while you're at it. Spreading misinformation that causes suffering is what you do best.

Dear Mark, my estrogen filled friend, you're just as bad as the anti-vaxxers trying to spread FUD like this is some fake news story. I checked several sources and it's legit - they're in the red 7 mill.

You're paying a fixed monthly bill just like they are and why they are losing millions. The energy you're selling back is making less as well... Just like them.

This planet is doomed if the over riding factor is saving money than going green. Also all countries have to go green. That means phase out fossil fuel vehicles, renewable energy everywhere, stop over fishing the sea, stop cutting down rain forest, stop polluting rivers and the seas, practice birth control everywhere, etc.

Now what are the chances of that happening?

I'm starting to not deny climate change, but to believe people are for shock when they realise the truth.

I am seriously thinking of getting solar as my heat pumps are costing me almost $400 a month in electricity!
