New York (CNN)The New York state Supreme Court in Manhattan has disbarred Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former personal attorney and fixer, after Cohen pleaded guilty last year to multiple felony charges, according to a decision released Tuesday.

A five-judge panel found that Cohen, who began a three-day stretch of congressional testimony on Tuesday, should be disbarred for his federal conviction for having previously made false statements to Congress, the decision said.

Though Cohen's disbarment was widely expected in legal circles, for a onetime trusted legal adviser to the President to be stricken from the roll of attorneys in New York state nevertheless constituted another striking step in the escalating consequences of the investigation into Cohen.

Cohen pleaded guilty to lying to the Senate Intelligence Committee and House Intelligence Committee in 2017 regarding the proposed Trump Tower Moscow deal which he spearheaded in 2015 and 2016. Cohen had told Congress that the deal ceased in January 2016 when it actually ended in June 2016

He told a pretty stupid lie and committed tax fraud. Remember when you guys were tripping over yourself because you thought he was going to bring down trump? lol

The funny thing is, most of these people that were indicted would never have been if Mueller wasn't dotting all his I's and crossing all his T's. When he drops that bombshell of NO COLLUSION there's no way you liberal nutters can say he didn't do his job.

Michelle Obama lost her law license in 1994.

Bill Clinton lost his law license in 2001 (after the Arkansas Supreme Court suspended it for 5 yrs)

Hillary Clinton lost her law license in 2002, although it looks like she just got it back in Arkansas a few days ago.

Cohen said he was never in Prague, which means the Steele dossier is fake (of course)
