Dancing too hard caused woman's uterus to 'fall out' of her vagina

A 60-year-old woman from Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province felt her uterus slipping out of place and protruding out of her vagina after she had a vigorous dancing session.
The unidentified patient recently went to the Maternal and Child Health Centre in Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, for medical assistance, reported Chinese video news site Pear.
She told Dr Song Hongjuan, a supervisor at the hospital, that she was terriied after feeling something falling out of her vagina when she was boogying on a public square during a work out session.
She feared that she might have a tumour.
She also told Dr Song that her uterus had slipped down and poked out 'a little' in the past. But it had not poked out whole like this time.
The doctor explained that the pensioner suffered from uterine prolapse, a condition that sees the womb slipping towards, or into, the vagina.
The patient claimed that she might have danced too hard, which caused her uterus to protrude from her vagina.
However, Dr Song said that theory was unlikely. Instead, she believed that the uterus had been weakened from childbirth - a common issue mothers face.
Dr Song suspected that the patient had given birth to a big baby when she was young and suffered from uterine prolapse from childbirth. The condition had never been treated and likely worsened as she grew older.
The doctor urged new mothers to start exercising their pelvic floor muscles after giving birth.
She also advised women not to leave constipation, chronic coughs and allergic rhinitis untreated because all these conditions could cause harm to one's pelvic floor muscles.
Dr Song told reporters that she and her team had perform surgery on the patient and she was on way to recovery.
Although it may sound bizarre, it is possible for the uterus - also known as the womb - to protrude from the vagina.
Uterine prolapse is when the organ to slip towards, or into, the vagina. It is a common issue after childbirth and happens when pelvic floor muscles have weakened.
Getting older, being overweight and having a job that requires a lot of heavy lifting can also weaken the muscles supporting the uterus.
Figures suggest around a third of women will experience some sort of pelvic organ prolapse, which can also include the bladder or bowel.
Data does not exist to make clear how common it is for the uterus to end up protruding out of the vagina.
However, the NHS says 'feeling or seeing a bulge or lump in or coming out of your vagina' is a symptom of pelvic organ prolapse.
