People of Boston have parade to stop Trump's concentration camps
https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/20...EYL/story.html
I wonder if onehunglow showed up to support... A lively and fast-moving stream of about 1,000 Jewish activists and others shut down traffic in the heart of the city during rush hour Tuesday evening, chanting, singing, and drumming to protest immigrant detention in the city and across the country. They wound their way from the New England Holocaust Memorial on Congress Street down Tremont Street and through Chinatown, to the Suffolk County House of Correction in the South End, which houses scores of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees. Eighteen protesters were arrested after locking arms near the facility’s entrance. Many of the demonstrators were young, wearing prayer shawls and head coverings, and drawing on lessons learned in Hebrew school and from relatives who survived the Holocaust to urge the Trump administration to “close the camps.” Lawyers and lawmakers have described the camps detaining migrants at the border as squalid and inhumane in recent weeks.

I doubt onehung was brave enough to go there and say the stuff he says on here. People like him are only vocal in numbers or when protected. He ain't the "barbeque becky" type. Hes the anonymous tip type.
1000 Jewish activists tho? The fuck? Thats different... |

I dunno if Toronto is different, but because I grew up there I tend to associate Jewish peeps with the more social justice oriented part of the whole 'left' spectrum
xians, jews and muslims downtown often teamed up for anti-poverty, gay pride, anti-racism, refugee rights activism along with the rest of us heathens. I'm actually really surprised it's not the same in NYC. or maybe not since everyone in the US seems to be yelling at each other all the time a wicked university in toronto was actually started by an xian group and some wealthy private investors (many of whom were Jewish) because there was a quota on the amount of Jewish people that would be allowed entry into the other schools. so peeps from two religions teamed up to create the school. what was 'the Jewish school' became the most progressive institution in the city, also with two of the top rated biz schools & law schools in Canada so it's not like everyone just sits around talking social intersectionality a Jewish group at that school was actually responsible for one of the deepest encounters I've ever had. they organized for Paul Rusesabagina (the dude Cheadle played in Hotel Rwanda) to speak at different schools in the city about the contexts and conditions that give rise to atrocities and he gave a...beyond words talk I got to meet him in a really intimate and informal talk after the lecture. bear in mind one of my major fields of study at the time was African History, specifically the lactustrine region of which Rwanda is a part which was why I was invited. was incredible a moment brought to me by a bunch of rowdy Jews

that sucks. think when peeps isolate themselves or are isolated by a society that fears them for being different (thinking recent global migration patterns here) everyone loses out. probably two sides of the same coin
