So Ebay is going to try to compete with Amazon

Ebay has been running trials and is going to try competing with Amazon with building localized warehouses and storing merchandise for sellers.

They are planning to let sellers of certain categories send stuff in to their warehouses and they will then handle the shipping customer service like Amazon does with their FBA service.

I'm not very convinced they will do very good at this because their traffic isnt the same as Amazon..

What do you guys think?

I agree. Completely different models. What party, if any, will benefit from this?

Answer: Amazon

Ebay has gone to shit over the years.

I bought something on there 2 weeks ago and the seller still hasn't shipped it and Ebay says I have to wait another 2 weeks to file a claim.

Seems odd on the shipping thing, but I guess it comes down to what was the expected delivery date? Usually though you get negative marks as a seller if you don't ship by the due date.

The problem is ebay has been fucking sellers over. It started when they stopped letting sellers leave feedback for buyers.. After that it gave the buyer all the leverage to try to fuck over sellers and ebay barely lifts a fingers to stop sellers from getting scammed.

It's why I wont sell anything of real value on ebay. I stick to nearly 100% clothing on ebay because I have very little invested in the product if I can scammed by the buyer. If I sell anything like electrics or stuff like that it's always on Amazon because I have less worry of getting scammed.

Answer: Amazon
Yea, ebay has been trying to shift into that kinda market trying to get sellers to sell new items.. but their website isn't set up well for doing that. Also ebay was always known as the online flea market in a sense vs Amazon most people go there to buy new items..

Yea that's the one I saw as well. This is something new, not the ebay store thing or the UPS stuff.

I love Ebay. It's not next day shipping, but it's good.

Well that's the weird thing and it's what I have a problem with. The original expected delivery date (which is verified in the email I received from Ebay) said 7/26. Then after about a week it changed on the site when I pull up the order and now it says 8/10, wtf?

I called Ebay to find out what why it changed and got some Pakistani who just kept repeating a scripted response. The other thing is the items location was listed as shipping from Nevada, but when I pull up the sellers profile it says he's in Cyprus. Amazon puts them to shame when it comes to customer service.

Yea, that's really strange.. I dunno how they could change the ship date after it's sold.. I wonder if ebay has a global shipping deal for guys in countries like China as example..

What I mean, is if I sell something on ebay with global shipping to say a guy in the UK. I ship the item to a ebay warehouse and that's the end of my responsibility so far as shipping goes. It then gets loaded into a shipping container and mass shipped with lots of other ebay stuff to the UK and they take care of the shipping in the UK..

Sp perhaps there is a reverse set up like that for guys in China or say Cyprus.. They ship to a local warehouse then it gets shipped to the US and ebay delivers from there? Maybe if that's the case it could get held up in customs or something and nothing the shipper has control over..

Amazon tried competing with eBay but I guess it didn’t do well. I browse eBay and most products are not at good prices. The other night I priced an insulated Dunkin Donuts cup. DD got $16.99 but stopped selling it around here. Amazon was $11.99 and I put it in my cart. eBay had many and I bought it for $9.00 including shipping and that was $6+. Brand new and arrived in a day. Amazon would match the price if from a store only. Some sellers wanted $24.99 plus shipping on eBay and one is three towns over.

I don’t bid and look for Buy It Now only. Just looked at a bag of Werther’s coffee caramel sugar free candy. $4+ plus shipping on eBay and the same on Amazon. Dollar Tree has them for a dollar and expiration date is 2021. I’ll order online for a case of twelve bags for $12 with free shipping to the store. That way I won’t go and find them out of stock.

I’m tempted to buy a few assorted cases and sell on eBay for $3 a bag plus shipping. A Dollar Tree padded envelope package is three for a buck. Before I do this, I’m watching the sales on eBay and if they sell well, I’ll try it.

Ebay is now a failed module these days. As a seller if wele didnt offer free shipping then listing will be gone to back pages and no order and as a buyer free shipping will be 2nd class mail which will take 4-5 working days....

At this poiny of time no match between ebay and amazon.

Ebay is barking up the wrong tree.

When AMZN ratfucked its affiliates again in the past few months by adjusting aff rates down, ebay had a great opportunity to SCOOP UP those affiliates

But no... it's headed in the other direction and straight into a meatgrinder with an infrastructure heavy FBA ripoff play

Ebay has a solid brand and there are no shortage of affiliates who would love to promote it but it's run by people who have no clue....

Good luck with that. Amazon prime sold more than 6 Billion in 1 day.

Amazon saw at least $6.2 billion in GMV during Prime Day 2019, according to market intelligence firm IgnitionOne. That topped the firm’s pre-Prime Day estimate for $6.1 billion in GMV, and was about $2 billion higher than sales garnered during last year’s event.

And quite honestly, it was all junk.

People see a deal (or at least they believe it to be a deal) and they cant resist the temptation to buy.
