Password Saver Device

Years ago I had a portable password keeper. It died and I tried another brand. It disappeared during my move I gave up. Last night I began looking for a password keeper online. Battery operated, memory saved, not tiny keys and relatively inexpensive.

I found this one

PIN-Master+ PIN Code & Password Manager – The Original Data Organizer in Credit Card Size Where All Your Confidential Codes are encrypted and Safely stored – Capacity 125 Codes.

They have a cheaper one that is about five dollars less but only saves thirty passwords. 125 is better for me.

Has anyone used this and if so, how do you like it? Amazon is delivering it tomorrow as I just ordered it. I can return it if I don’t like it.

Reviews of this are good but the other ones got mostly bad reviews. People are paid reviews and I figured that y’all might have a real review.

What problem are you trying to solve with this physical password keeper?

That may help others give better recommendations.

For online, LastPass.com

I use keepass that sync to my MFA protected Onedrive, and Firefox Password manager https://monitor.firefox.com/
That way I get alerts if my username is part of a breach

The online works for Chrome but I also use Safari and Firefox simultaneously. I might save my password in Chrome and use another browser later. I can’t remember the passwords.

I liked my physical password keepers. If my iPad crashes, and doesn’t retain the files, then I’ll have the passwords.

Received it today. Tomorrow I’ll tinker with it and see if I like it.

I use 1password, encrypted yet stored on dropbox/google drive. You can use it from your iPhone, android, windows, mac even linux machine all synced yet protected.

Good luck with that. Sounds more like you are here to get confirmation that your strategy is great, and not really listening to the feedback you get.

Hope your physical password keeper dont break or get stolen

You think wrong on so many points, I don’t even know where to start. I have 400+ usernames and passwords, how to choose which 125 to add on such a device?

Single point of failure. You talk about ”what if my ipad crashes”
Yeah, well, for starters it is rare for ipads to crash entirely. But if you use iCloud on the ipad and let it store passwords, then those are kept in the cloud and can easily be restored on a new device.

What if your password keeper device gets lost, stolen or crashes???

Notepad file saved to 2 memory sticks. Why complicate matters and let unknown companies have access to your important info?

Why not just use a pen and paper notebook?

But what you can do, is to create a contact on your phone. (iPhone OR Android) First name: the Website URL - Second Name: The Password. Save it.

If I do this, not only is it saved to my phone, but also automatically saved to my contacts app on my iMac and I can also access it on the contacts part of iCloud on any other device.

Or I can create the contact on the iMac or on the PC and it works the same across all devices...

You are already in the apple eco-system. Just do it this way?

I am working with Roboform and Goodsync. The last version you have to use their clould storage, so I keep an old version on which I can save the password on my servers

You tell me? My phone is linked to a google account that's in good standing and my iMac/iCloud has been in place since 2007.

If I lose my phone, I can use my iMac or PC... Likewise, if either my iMac or PC or both stopped working I still have my phone...

If I lost my phone, no one could open it without my fingerprint...

Say there's a fire, and I lose my phone, iMac and PC at the same time... I can access my stuff from any computer in the world by logging into iCloud.

Should, for some bizarre reason, my iCloud gets restricted / canceled (legitimately or in error) I have the google account on my phone. Likewise if it happened to my google account (again, highly unlikely) I still have my iCloud...

I really cant see the point of realistic failure... So please - Enlighten me?

Again, this is a perfect option as a back-up which can never become corrupted/crash/erased etc. People don't seem to like simplicity and common sense.

Many things, most commonly the facts that many apps you install get access to your contacts, and that access is one of the most used data-sources to harvest emails - and in this case also your password.

If I could, I would.

My iPad died recently. It isn’t rare. The keeper won’t be stolen or lost. It’s right next to me in a case with a light switch device.

The iPhone contact idea is a good one. I’ll use that as a backup on my iPhone and iPad. Better to be safe than sorry.

I don’t have hundreds of passwords. Fortunately.

Problem solved. Thanks.

Well OK. Yes, that could well be applicable to other people, I'll grant you that
