My first domain was $60/year with no competitor available. I had the invoice and receipt framed in my main office and people were shocked at the fees.
I’ve seen ads for registering domain names for $30/year and wonder if people are signing up or not.

I can't remember my first - It was in the 100's I am sure - I wish I could remember, it was a good single word but I couldn't justify renewing it the next year - There was paperwork and bank transfers overseas etc - lol - I reged a '.store' yesterday as a placeholder for a project - Took about 30 seconds and cost $1.80...

These price increases likely wouldn't have been allowed, if ICANN was still under the oversight of the US Department of Commerce.

Yeah but at the bottom that is just an email address for sending the complain to. I have doubts about the effectiveness. At least a change petition or something would be more effective.
