The saleability of exclusive content.

The saleability of exclusive content is very over rated in this business. It's exclusive if the viewer hasn't seen it before and the scene is very different from the 1,000s of other similar scenes online. Otherwise to the viewer it's just another porn scene in a sea of porn scenes.

And there's the problem for 95%, or close to that, sites online. They don't have an inhouse shooter capable of producing something different that will sell or don't have the budget to buy it.

So why was online obsessed with exclusive content? It allowed the site to get listed on major TGP sites and it impressed affiliates. So sites with nothing much to sell spent a lot of time and money throwing traffic at sites that couldn't convert.

What Tube site has exclusive content?

Which cam site has anything exclusive on it that draws 1,000s of visitors. OF does because the preselling the girls do before the viewer buys. That's an easy way to make porn exclusive. If the girl can do it.

True. So why dothey join, buy, watch, etc?

Obviously it suits their niche, they liked what they saw, they landed on it, convenience, price, exclusivity never enters the buyers head. Because if it's new to him it's exclusive.

He liked what he saw is the biggest reason, it switched on something in him that made him reach for his credit card. Quality of image has been over rated online, so long as he can get the message it's sending that's good enough and getting a good image iso easy. He doesn't jerk off to HD, 3D, VR or any other medium we rave about. In fact those mediums in the hands of fools make it worse for the viewer.

So what switches on the most people in a niche? Quality of the porn.

Content close to reality. Don't you think so?

No way. Reality for most porn buyers is what they're trying to escape. What real TV shows do you watch? Of course if they made a real TV show of my life 30-60 or someone similar then you would watch it.

But then it's only real to a few people like me. Porn is escapism from reality for most.

Do they want something believable they can relate to on a fantasy level? Yes in many cases I would agree. They want to feel they could do what the stud is doing or the girl is putting on a show just for them. And if only they were there they could do what's happening on screen.

For money you can shoot any content. But! You must be good enough to shoot what exactly in your mind or what client ordered

Isn't "exclusive" content in this day, if you're trying to run a paysite, just the bare basics?

I don't think that's a selling point. It's like a car that comes with an engine...it's just what you expect.

Exclusive content / niche / hot models. That's a starting point. Then you need an angle to separate yourself. The angle is the selling point.

If it's the first time the viewer is seeing it's exclusive to him. Otherwise I agree, membership of a site has to contain a lot more than "This is the only site that you can find girls doing this on."

We don't expect exlusivity in anything else we buy?

So why were we hung up on it? We developed a layer of content producers who were sub par to awful, working for sites that were full of sub par content. Sites that didn't convert, content that couldn't get enough traffic, because the samples were bad.

The problem with "If I had enough traffic I could sell shit" is shit doesn't get enough traffic.

For once I agree with Paul. I've always felt the public push for exclusive content in the affiliate marketing world was overblown, just designed to attract a handful of large TGP/MGP owners and gallery submitters who jump on the latest greatest sites.

I've been happy to repackage old content for most of my adult businesses, the only time I had exclusive paysites is when I shot the content myself just to keep costs down.

Once a site submits to the top TGP sites it's covered itself. Once that content is given to 100s of affiliates it loses all exclusivity in TGP submitting terms.

It's impossible to shoot your own content for less than content producers will sell it to you. I was selling solo girl set and videos for under $60. No one can shoot cheaper than that.

The problem was for all the money they professed to be making with their kick ass sites the majority didn't have the money to spend on content, the thing that drove traffic, converted, retained and earned money.

I paid girls hourly and shot them for 10-20 solo fetish sites. Some of my scenes cost me $20.
