For the Mac and PC guys - tech questions

Bit of a tech question here for those in the know..

For video editing in Davinci Resolve, I'm using a PC (i9-9900K / GeForce 3090 / 64GB RAM / SSD drive for program installs / big SATA drive for saving encodes).
Connected to this I have a couple of 20TB NAS drives (WD 20TB My Cloud Pro Series PR2100) and x2 WD 24 TB My Book Duo external drives connected by USB 3.1.

Things are running good but I keep getting tempted with the newest Imac 2020 5k as i hear they actually perform better than the Imac Pro's right now plus it has the 5k monitor.
I run a 34" widescreen curved now but its not 4k.

If I went down the Mac route (and maybe switched to Final Cut as its more geared for OSX), would the MAC be able to read and write to all my drives in which are in NTFS format?

Would using the MACS 10Gbit ethernet speed up transfers when using my 1gb switch with my current NAS drives?

Likewise, would using thunderbolts connectors to the external drive speed transfers up?

Or finally, should I just stick with the PC and the 3090 card as thats pretty much the most powerful GPU out there right now and the MAC wouldn't perform as well?

For comparison, The MAC specs I'd get are:

3.6GHz 10-core 10th-generation Intel Core i9 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz
8GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory (but would buy 64GB pack 3rd party to save $$$)
Radeon Pro 5700 XT with 16GB of GDDR6 memory
2TB SSD storage
10 Gigabit Ethernet

Since then Apple computers are not PCs? Why do you always separate computer users as Mac's, Lenovo's, HP's, Aser's, Samsung's, Sony's etc? It doesn't matter which exactly brand it is. They all are personal computers made on Intel-IBM platform.

Could always look at a hackintosh and have the best of both worlds?
I recently traded my trashcan xeon Mac Pro 2013 for a 10-core I9 hackintosh, 5500XT with 64Gb ram. Then gave it a month to see if everything was happy.
So far;
1) The machine is really quick. Really
2) It's been bulletproof with everything Ive thrown at it. Photoshop work, AfterFX, premiere, lots of video encoding. No crashes, nothing
3) I haven't updated the OS any, because past experience teaches me this -can- cause things to go bump and need some hackintosh kexts updating etc
4) I shut down now, rather than using sleep. With waking from sleep, sometimes drives wouldnt wake, but hadn't been unmounted properly. As such, Finder (Macs explorer) didnt like it.

So it's not perfect. But it has been a fucking good upgrade.

P.S. I dual-boot with a second NVME SSD to use Win10 if/when I need to.
Interesting thing is, Mac OS is so much cleaner when using multiple apps. If I work on AfterFX on mac, then open up media encoder, it opens in a moment. On Win 10 and do the same thing, the machine can be loading Media Encoder for 5-10 seconds before it opens. Crazy. Its the same hardware!!!!

I don't think so. The switch would be the limiting factor (I think) and wouldn't be able to work at 10Gb. You'd probably need to upgrade your switch to 10Gb also.
Im no networking expert, so dont take this as gospel

I use mac, windows and linux so not biased at all. I'd stick with what you have, sounds like a sweet setup! Maybe upgrade to a 4k monitor...

The macs will be able to see the NTFS drives but will not be able to write to them. Do yourself a favor. Stick with what you got. If you format your drives for MAC, Then you cant view them on windows. Also, if your MAC breaks in a few years, they will tell you its out of date and they wont sell parts for it and basically force you into buying a new one. Nothing is interchangeable or upgradable. I just got a new ASUS for $1k same MAC is $3k. Plus I can upgrade drives and RAM anytime I want.

in the U.S. they are separated MAC / PC - HP,DELL,ASUS,IBM are all considered PC's . For some reason here they call anything with windows a PC. But yes. a PC used to just mean personal computer.

New Macs no longer use Intel, they've switched to "Apple silicon" which is arm based chips. They are still selling off old Intel stock though.

Man, it seems like yesterday when I was working for Apple when they switched to Intel.

Yeah, i got a couple of new 4k 34" monitors and new Anykeys MX keyboards and will be staying the PC now.
Having used the new 24GB 3090 card a bit more, its crazy fast and I doubt any Mac (without spending crazy $$$) can get close to that raw power. It takes up 3 slots in PC case and even comes with a support stand so stop it sagging as its that big!

Hmm... What about Linux then? Is it PC (personal computer), NPAMC (non-personal Apple Macintosh computer) or LC (Linux computer)?

So the old Apple computes are Mac's or PC? What's about those computers (mostly laptops) that run on ARM CPU's? Are they are still PC's in the US or you have some special name for them?

I'm confused a bit...

We just call it pc or Mac, that's it, even if it doesn't make sense. People have been asking about that for years and you won't get a solid answer, so just accept it.
