Looking to buy a new an android box TV ? or the like ? Anyone have suggestion ?

Alright, I finally break away from my Huge Cable, home phone, internet OVER PRICE that was costing us $250/ month with shaw cable.

Now we got VERY FAST internet with another company for $45/ month only and use Netflix, prime + an antenna for Local TV. . We have been very busy offline this summer so it was no biggy having few channels but now with the fall and winter coming up planing to spend more time inside so I want to upgrade my old non-use android TV box and would like something that doesn't need to find a tech to reprogram it. etc.

Feel like been ripped off in my city when buying an android box, here two I bought one for 95$ and the other one $250 they don't work anymore or have been discontinued and that Local stupid tech at the mall asked me $350 now for a new box

What are you using and what is your experience with yours?

Any Good Amazone or eBay seller to get one from ?

Android box? Then get a Nvidia Shield. Those Chineese boxes are never going to be updated.

Why not an Apple TV?

We just use a Firestick. We must four TVs and we just stream video directly to the Firestick. Works fantastic.

Wow... those prices are insane.

I've been using Android boxes for years, always ordered from Ali Express or Amazon for around $25 to $30. These boxes also usually come with root access, which is a neat bonus.
Make sure you buy one with the latest Android, as they don't often receive updates afterwards.

Recently also tried the Fire TV stick, which is a good (and quite cheap) alternative as well. Runs on a modified version of Android TV OS, but has no problem running regular Android TV apps.

Note that there's also a difference between Android TV the operating system (used by Nvidia Shield and various HDMI sticks), and Android TV boxes (which are running the regular Android OS).

I have been using Firesticks for the last few years, they tend to die after 6 months though, so I just got the new Chromecast instead and for the most part it seems to be better (although the Firestick has a better remote.)

Looks OK.

Personally, Im annoyed that my LG 4K Smart TV just missed out on the newer webOS version of the software, and as such, while I have netflix prime roku etc pre installed, I don't have access to an app store to install more

There was one point when prime stopped working for over 8 months, and I couldn't update the app myself. So it was 8 months for LG to issue a 'Firmware Upgrade' which addressed the issue which "some customers may be having"... ie updated the app to a newer version...

Personally, I'm just gonna get a proper mini PC at some point in the future to use as a HTPC and avoid having to use 'Baked In' solutions on the screen device I've chosen...

Good point!

Rasp app installed, I'm still waiting them to activate the membership purchased.

" Make sure the name you filled during checkout matches so we will know who to credit. Orders will not be processed until the payment has cleared into our PayPal account.

Your subscription will be activated when payment clears. It’s done by a human so please allow for some time for this to happen since not everyone is at their computer 24/7.
"

Will wait 72 hours before emailling them

I had a IPTV app on my Samsung TV that i used initially. It was slow and laggy but maybe its better nowadays. Id still say the 2nd gen version of the Amazon Firestick is better than any built in TV apps and costs like £30.

Once membership activated will check the speed and will look for other option like:
Firestick ( i can get it at best buy here ) or will try out a pc. But i think it should work out good anyway

Walmart sells an Onn android tv box for $29. It has real android tv not like those Chinese crap boxes but probably has similar specs.

If you don't like it you can just easily return it...

I've tried Rasp. It works really well on Apple TV with the iPlayTV app.

The thing is what do you watch? I can see that if you want sports it's fantastic. But the rest of it is just trash programming, and most of it is not even HD. I do like Turner Classic Movies but that was pretty much all out of about 2000 channels.

we watch movies, sport and whatever we can find. It's just Netflix and prime doesn't have much here in Canada. Before with my old box, my wife finds all the show she liked with the cable previously and many shows/ series that is not available for Canada view. ( thinking of using VPN now with Netflix and prime ).

Update: my rasp membership Still not activate

Is there any other app like "Rasp" you guys used, but with more movies?

If you have an Android device you can install CinemaHD on it.
