Abbott also said that two police officers were shot, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Ummm.. yes? In the little coverage I watched last night, the guy was reportedly pissed off about not graduating high school. It's unfortunate he took the lives of innocent young children out his anger, but clearly, he felt wronged by his school.
