Why can onlyfans let everybody make money but Youtube can't?

I've never used onlyfans in any form so sorry if I missed the obvious here.

Youtube partner program is hard to get into and after I was in it for 2 years, I got kicked
out because of not having enough subscribers.
So I can't make money on youtube anymore even from my previous videos.

The onlyfans model would seem to make sense for youtube; or does it?

YouTube is real mainstream, family kids friendly orientated.

Because Youtube earns money through ads. They need to maximize conversion to keep advertisers interested. And conversion is highest amongst subscribers with repeat views of the same ad.
Allowing channels with low user engagement to be monetized will bring down their conversion ratio.

This doesn't apply to only fans in the same way

I have a small $100 a month channel. Lol, I think it makes even less... (Believe around $80-ish for around 50K views monthly)

Got a second and even smaller channel, which generates 4 times the ad revenue but from only half the views, solely through affiliate links in the description.


So, unless you can pull a few million views per month, becoming a Youtube partner isn't really all that exciting.

also youtube needs to have great trust for your channel to show ads on it, because they can't afford to show ads on any objectionable content. Advertisers won't stand for that.

YouTube can make money on this content by running ads and keeping all the profit.

Youtube is not easy to make money with.

You ned to be entertaining and possibly do something different.

Youtube channels are becoming production firms, with professional editors and so on.

However the problem is, you can be shut down at any point.

On top of that you need to keep putting vids out.

I have noticed that many people are trying to do such as youtube and tiktok and Instagram. I find it amusing to open walk past someone and hear them on the phone saying they are a Instagram celebrity.

Yesterday I was in town (I hate going but my mate wanted some money bags from the bank), and you could see people in groups walking around with camera phones on selfie sticks doing vids.

What I am getting at, is this is oversaturated now.

In my opinion, you are best to look at something a lot different.

If it was me, I would not be wasting time trying to make money with YouTube adverts, but find a sponsor or sponsors and you do the advert on your own films on youtube.

I suspect youtube adverts are not affective, as most people skip them, and they tend to be rubbish.

Of course if your vids get a million views (per vid), then your probably best to get money from youtube adverts, and just keep pumping out vids as often as you can.

One problem is those who do such as youtube vids are burning out. They need to do a vid or more a day. And the moment they take a few days break, people can move away and they loose income.

Even those with only a few followers earn a decent mount of money.

Onlyfans converts, as its a personal thing.

There's of course a lot more than just the "vlogger" niche, crappy slideshows or videos made for entertainment purpose only. Youtube can be really good for educational content for example as well (like 1 hour in-depth instruction guides etc).

This depends what your goal is... You are right if your goal is to "get rich quick", Youtube is the exact opposite of that.

if a channel is about something you are passionate about and it allows you to make a few bucks to expand your hobby... I think it's still worth it.

For example, I have a HDMI recorder sitting between my PC and monitor and whenever I want to check out something new and go mess around with it on some rainy sunday, I just press the button and record the whole setup from start to finish, just in case I encounter some errors or difficulties.

If so, I just cut the part showing how to fix it, include hardware and software affiliate links and 6 to 12 months later, those sales usually paid off the whole mini PC or other hardware parts used, which is a nice bonus.

Yeah, old channel. I believe you needed 1000 subs to become Youtube partner.

To qualify for the YPP, you need to be in good standing with YouTube, have 4,000 valid public watch hours in the previous 12 months and at least 1,000 subscribers.

You will also need to follow all the YouTube monetisation policies, live in a country/region where the YouTube Partner Programme is available and have a linked AdSense account.

I was told YouTube made $20 billion in revenue in 2020. Probably more than OnlyFans.

As hobby, I have a youtube travel channel, publishing one or two videos a month and i'm making ~1.2K from that which is great. I would do it for free...

That's also how I approach Youtube.
But must say, 1.2K monthly is a pretty nice "extra", especially considering it's your hobby anyway...

The double whammy they hit me with caused me to hold up.
My gfydrama channel was cut off first because I didn't have enough total views.
Then a month or two later they cut off my other channel for not having enough subscribers and total hours watched.
Even though that channel had close to 500K views.

So where does it end?
What's the next criteria going to be after I bust my ass to make more videos?
Will I then need 5k subscribers to stay eligible?

Further more; it's all admittedly rigged by an algorithm that will push one video to higher views over another.

So there is no way to predict that I will get enough views no matter how good I think my videos are.
