Probilling - would you recommend them?

Has any one used ProBilling as a Processor and if so do you have any comments to say about them - how would you rate them, are they reasonable with their scrubbing, have you had problems with them, would you recommend them...

I just added them a few days ago for one off content set sales. It was very simple to set up and the first couple of transactions went fine. I only am using them as they are located in Canada so I hope to god they will protect me more then iBill did when Visa came knocking saying you couldn't cross region process as iBill was doing for me through the Euro region since no IPSP has a Canadian banking relationship for high risk merchants apparently. I also just set up ePassporte as a payment option in the last couple of days so its been crazy over here.

Their billing is done outside of Canada, in the UK i believe. Still though, i use them for all my billing (paysite wise) and they are indeed a strong c ompany with a pretty good program running and their DirectCheck Rocks!

I completely disagree. They lost their merchant account last fall that resulted in a lot of lost signups.

They were FORCED into heavy duty scrubbing for the remainder of 2002 to PROVE to Visa that they would not take "risky" signups.

And (this is not just me..but from another source on the "inside") they are facing the SAME problem WSB faced and frankly, would strongly advise you NOT use them less you want the same scenario.

Get over the $750 and signup with someone like ccbill that is SOLID! Probilling is NOT!

FYI, aside from the $ 750.00, you need a US presence. This is what is more complicated, and has more repercussions on the tax treatment of your business.

So, 12clicks, stop thinking were cheap. I would love to see the roles reversed.

I did a US corp, got a SIN, continued to use Ibill for rebills onlyand they still haven't payed me ( since dec.15th!) It is the run around.

I'm Canadian, and I agree with you. I'm not too cheap to pay it, I just don't want to. But, it is only a matter of time before Canadians run out of processors to use.

Get someone from probilling on here to explain how they plan on skirting the Visa regs. Until I hear it from them, and they guarantee their clients won't have to pay it, I will continue to believe it is only a matter of time before ProBilling clients will have to pay the Visa fee, too.

It's never been about canadians. Some of my best friends are canadians
its about doing what you have to for your business. In this business, if you cut corners, you die.

I'm not happy this is happening, but I am glad. It get's rid of the cling-ons, and makes me tighten up the ship on our end.

we all have our own reasons for staying with or leaving a particular supplier. I have my reasons for looking for a new processor and that's why I'm looking for feedback on Probilling. I'd especially like to hear from anyone who is using their affiliate program and whether or not it has met your needs and expectations

Hi Thor! (Thor is truly the ONLY bright spot at ProBilling, and the only person that really goes out of his way to give customer support!)

Rather than have people email you, why don't you just make a public post as to how Probilling will NEVER charge the $750.00 fee that everyone is worried about.

Quickest way between two points is a straight line.
Here's the straight line!

Step up to the plate! I remember you guys from way back.

There is no information on your site about credit card processing. Do you require your clients to have a UK presence? Do they have to pay the Visa fees? If not, how are you avoiding this situation? Do you do third party CC processing, or do you require the client to have a merchant account?
