don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with popups, but on a site like mine that relies on bookmarks if i slam the hell outa people with them i gain a few bucks today but loose long term by loosing bookmarks. just how my business works.

one tasteful popup don't really hurt anything and I often allow that on pre-paid ads in some locations.

what I was mainly bitching about was hosted galleries that claim to offer revshare but the surfer gets hit with a ton of other paysites that the person posting the gallery doesn't get paid for.

I was referring to a username/pass prompt on a Epoch webmaster signup page to which I link from my site. So obviously this wasn't the popup you meant? What pop-up did you get then?

These are our randomly generated TGP galleries. In both Follow Me Free and Pay It Forward the Webmaster who posted the gallery gets paid on every single pop up in the rotation.

I'm having this changed so that in our randomly generated TGP Galleries there will be no pop ups.

I appreciate your input since I'm not up to speed on TGP's. I will post back here when the change is made.

I would have thought that a Webmaster would want the pop ups since it adds 33% to their income, but what the hell do I know LOL

Now, the pop-up I'm talking about is unique. It's a kinda sample movie to convince surfer to come back to the same site.com now or later, it does not contain any other sponsor link whatsoever for you to get credit for or not so to me this pop-up is not a pop-up even though it's thrown with a snippet of JVScript code.. if you know what I mean.

on rethinking this - for a $35 or so per sign up program that would be proballybe a necessary option.

I was origionally thinking of revshare something like a 50/50 split- which wouldn't really require a lower split as the income would be lower on both ends.

I wouldn't remove a popup if I had one, just to prove you wrong or whatever you are trying to imply with "this time".

I simply had not and don't have a pop-up. That shouldn't be too hard to understand.

i'm glad you made this thread. after reading it i started to check out some of my sponsors hosted gallaries(havent used them yet). 1 sponsor has 5 fucking popups after my referral link is clicked. guess how many of the 5 had my referral code...NONE! my link was at the underneath popup hell. should i post the company or what?

Mine are clean - But on the pay sites I have either show 1 pop up or 1 consul - Max -
I use ccbill and tracking goes from one site to the next so I try and make the best for my partner and me!
Once the consul (on 2-3 sites close, the game is over - Once the pop up closes (on several sites) also, the game is over.
I have cookies set to their max life span - I have cancelled members redirected to an unadvertised site of ours, also with ccbill - These saleas are passed to my partners - If they were credited with the original sale.
Ask youself this: How many sponsors trade their cancellations out so you get sweet fuck all?
How many flog their emails - So you get swet fuck all?

I totally disagree with you.
A hosted gallery should work in the same way as a tgp is intended - At a minimum!
There are many webmasters offering this function in the same way I do -
Which is giving you an extra tool to make cash - No one says you must .

I just had to pop a few of my hosted in here - I run 6 free sites as well as NScash and they depend on hosted gals ( its a real time saver )

So saying that - I hate some of the crap a lot of sponsors dish out... Totally with you there in regards to pops, redirects, galleries that all of a sudden just disappear, shitty ass lay-outs (you'd think they would get a real designer if they are going to burn bw) ect... I'm cleaning out my database daily. I just don't use them and my database is getting thin.

That's also why my gals are clean and hit my member sites with no BS and no pops ;) I come from both sides as a promoter and site owner giving out hosted gals to my partners that I would use simply put.

SD.. do you have any actual numbers that show a decline in bookmarkers when you link to galleries that link to sponsors who have popups?

If not then you might want to test it, because assumptions like that can be a revenue killer.

Ideally since this is all about revenue, wouldnt you be happier earning a higher per signup rate, getting exit credits (thus more joins) and having your customers return back at the same rate?

Suppose you lost 10% of your surfers. That sounds awful, but what if you increased revenue by 40%?

Just a thought as most (not saying you) people tend to make traffic assumptions that are wrong.

SleazyDream again thanx for the input. We just put it in our new newsletter about dropping the pop ups, should make a lot more Webmasters use it. Remember, even with our pop ups Webmasters were getting paid for all exits.

We also have a TGP Gallery Generator that creates different URL's. The Galleries I showed you were from our quick access random galleries - so we have all types of TGP galleries.

With our Free Hosted TGP Gallery Generator you can pick out your own templates, your own pix, etc., it's pretty slick for those who want higher quality galleries, it takes a little longer, but you can customize them to your liking chosing from 100's of thousands of photos.

because "that's the way the game is played". a TGP site is nothing more than one big "switch board" with links on them. in most cases - other peoples links. people who submit to TGP's expect some sort of traffic to their galleries. all of them do. you pop the gallery in a new window, and your site stays there visible for the surfers next "gallery fix". there's a ton of TGP's out there. you fuck `em, they ultimately blame YOU the site owner. they'll go on to the next one. MTV mentality - who knows ...

as for sponsor galleries with pop-ups/console hells ... if a gallery submitter can expect to be banned, black listed and possibly publicly ridiculed on some webmaster board for posting a gallery with a pop-up or what-not - what does it say about the site and the site owner when that same submitter sees a gallery listed ( sponsor provided we'll assume ) that does the same thing he just got hammered for ? site owners have certain rules we have to play by too.

as for payouts - most of us who use console free expect a cut. it just becomes a matter of how much. SIC only dings you $2.50 for a console free w/PS. other programs i've seen go up to $15.00. and Sleazy DID mention RevShare. it would work to the benefit of both parties involved if his surfer didn't get ass raped and actually signed up to the site.

and it's good to see CE Cash is willing to work with some webmasters ...
