We count before the surfer even hits the site.

The system counts your Raws / Signups in real time through out the day. At the end of the day we calculate your uniques and payout.

BTW, all real time data is broken down by the hour.

Is that 1:200 throughout your whole network or just certain webmasters? Also, will this rate also hold true for TGP traffic, exit / blind traffic, 404 traffic [basically, the differing flavors of traffic out there without factoring in higher quality filtered free site, 3d stage email, and AVS traffic]?

The only problem with your theory is that everyone and their brother "claims" to convert 1 in 200 or some shit like that...so I really don't think you'd have webmasters rushing to your door to promote you.

If you're that confident in the conversions you could break it down and pay per click, a much bigger headache of a program to run, but you'd most DEFINITELY get a lot more webmaster traffic that way.

1 in 200 at $20 per breaks down to 10 cents a click.
Knock off 2 cents to cover the increased labor and software costs of a click program. At 8 cents a click you'd get more traffic than you know what to do with.

Problem with PPC is fraud, unfortunately. It appears, correct me if I am worng, that fraud escalates in PPC as compared to PSU.

I am confident that it would convert decently...I just can't say the same for webmasters who send 5th page exit popups or 404s/blinds.
Hence, the little Q + A about "network" stats and "practical" stats.

You'd have to have a crew of people checking referring urls all day long, and an iron clad set of rules to protect yourself.

The more I think about it the more I realize that conversion ratios really don't have anything to do with what a member is worth.
If you have a hot site or a hot niche then its going to convert regardless of what the payout is.

How much the member is worth has more to do with the pricing strategy and how well you run your back end.

I guess it all boils down to traffic volume and traffic mix. In theory 1:200 paying $20 is statistically similar to 1:500 paying $50 or 1:1 paying $.10. However, if you factor in how probabilities work, most people would probably take comfort in 1:200 since it may take a long time for 1:500 to adjust itself to that ratio, the same with 1:1. This is particularly important if you have a fixed amount of traffic and don't diversify.
