Supreme Court Rules on Sex.com

Sex.com is a domain that was originally registered by Gary Kremen who registered it through Network Solutions which is now called Verisign. Stephen Cohen used a letter forged with Kremen's name so he could become the domain's owner.
Thanks to this tactic, Cohen became the head of a multi-million dollar Internet porn empire while Kremens spent 6 years in court fighting to get the domain back. Cohen is to pay $65 million in damages for what he did.
However, since Cohen has escaped to Mexico, it may be impossible to recover the damages. Verisign may lose money for the erroneous transfer. Verisign states that domains are not property but the Supreme Court's ruling appears to contradict this.

That's a total crock of shit. They just don't want to be liable for damages due to their fuckup. When their defense is down to that, you know they're on thin ice.

Could it be possible that sex.com could end up owning verisign due to this?

methinks verisign is worth more than $100M - but gary will be able to treat his wounds ok with that measely settlement anyway if he wins the case against verisign too -- don't worry.

The stupid thing is that Verisign let it actually get to court.

The moment the query was raised they should have done something about it, from what I read they just denied it then ignored it.

You have to ask yourself why, what was in it for them?

And these idiots are still in charge of URL registrations?

They do that to everything and everyone then wonder why they lose business and end up in shit like this.

I hope the fuckers get hit and hit hard. They've had it coming for a very long time.
