Can somebody splain sumpin to me?
If I designed a new kind a fuel injection system for a car and patented the idea I would get a one time fee everytime a car was built with that injection system in it. The builder of the car would pass that on to the guy that buys the car who would once again pay a one time fee. Neither the company that built the car nor the guy that buys the car has to pay every time he drives the car.
Now, Acacia comes along and claims they hold the patent on streaming technology. Okay, fine, I have no problem with that. But why don't I just pay them a one time fee every time I use their technology? So, in other words, every time I build a website (just like the car) and use their technology on my site I pay them a one time fee. And better yet, can someone explain to me why Acacia should get a percentage of the entire gross profit from my website even if just a small portion of my profit comes from streaming video? |

Why should you have to pay them a one time fee? Sounds to me like Microsoft should be responsible. I don't remember reading in their software license about Acacia.
If I bought a car....and a year later I get a lawsuit from "The Hammer's Fuel Injection Technologies" asking for money everytime I drive it.....I'd be at the fucking dealership in their face so quick. ![]() |

Consider it from a business perspective. Acacia is simply interested in money, the more the better.
