read the 1st paragraph i believe hoop is right:

In order to continue to utilize the Service it is necessary for Client to open its own merchant account. Member Bank is a member of both VISA U.S.A. Incorporated (?VISA?) and MasterCard International (?MasterCard?) (each a ?Card Association?).

unless im missing something?

This paragraph made me think that perhaps they were no longer going to do 3rd party.

Am I misreading that?

iBill is actually offering both 3rd party billing AND billing services for people having their own merchant account.

Nothing new about that. And nothing that should make you any extra worry.

I like the bit about supplying the voided check so they can debit "penalties" from your account.

I haven't read through all this yet, does anyone know what the story really is?

If there is nothing new about this, then why would they say:
Quote:

If you already had a merchant account and were using iBill for billing then obviously they wouldn't tell you that you need to get a merchant account to continue the service. You would already have a merchant account.

smart people have been saying for at least a year to only use CCbill, Epoch, or Jettis.

of course, others have been saying something else for just as long.

why use ibill anyhow? all sites that I promote as a revsharer sell very bad. ccbill sites do much better! Once in awhile I sign up myself and find out that the sale is never credited to my account. Looks like their tracking and fraud screening is terrible. same like egspay.

If I sign up for an egs/ac-pay site and use a third world country email address, I can access the site for 1 to 2 months and after that I get a full refund for all payments. "Sorry you have a czech, russian or philippine email address, we don't like to take your money" .... hahaha, it was never as easy to join sites for free !!!!

To: All iBill Clients

RE: MasterCard Compliance Contract Agreement

As communicated to you via e-mail dated July 16, 2003, iBill, as well as all other processors, will be required to initiate changes in the way aggregated clients (iBill Complete clients) accept and process MasterCard payments. iBill has negotiated on behalf of our clients a solution that provides the least possible disruption to current operating procedures, while offering several enhancements and maintaining the current iBill service offerings.

The iBill solution incorporates several features:

Improved Funding - You will now enjoy daily revenue settlement payouts.
Merchant Of Record - This requirement results in the client becoming the merchant of record to accept MasterCard.
Exclusive Customer Service - iBill will continue to provide unsurpassed billing customer service to all consumers purchasing goods and services from you, our client.
Chargeback Management - You will have access to a dedicated business group at iBill that will negotiate eligible VISA and MasterCard chargeback disputes on your behalf.
Fraud Reduction - You will benefit from iBill's extensive fraud and verification service.
Control Revenue Sharing Payouts - iBill tracks all sales and identifies both RevShare Client and the referring site (RevSharer) and provides CMI reporting for both.
The purpose of this communication is to provide you with a revised contract agreement. This agreement is attached to this e-mail and can also be found on our website at the following address: http://www.ibill.com/support/masterc...tAgreement.cfm

When completed, this agreement should be faxed to iBill at 954-363-4409 (Attn: Underwriting). After faxing, please mail a hard copy of the signed agreement to iBill: 2200 SW 10th Street, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442 (Attn: Underwriting). Please note a voided US bank business check MUST be faxed back along with the contract. This is a requirement and will be necessary to complete your agreement processing.

We require that this agreement be completed and returned within three business days to iBill. Failure to return the contract agreement by August 1, 2003 may jeopardize your ability to accept MasterCard after August 21, 2003.

iBill is committed to providing a partnership with our clients as we help them remain in compliance with all card association requirements. Should you have any questions regarding this issue or the contract agreement, please call us at 866-379-6486 (toll free) or 954 363-4439. You can e-mail your questions to [email protected]

As always, thank you for your business.

iBill

Are only USA merchants getting this? For EU clients the business about a voided US Bank check being supplied by Aug 1 is just impossible.

iBill's position on this is that they are moving mainstream only to merchant accts and that any emails on this received by the adult sector were sent in error.

I don't know what to think at this point myself.

Off to the dead concert...check back later to see how this unfolds.

This is a contract addendum that pertains to mainstream business only. If it was received by a client in the adult business, it was received in error or that client also handles mainstream content and/or products.

Consequently, this addendum and communication DOES NOT pertain to adult content providers. As communicated, iBill has an approved solution that will allow for operation under our merchant account.

I know, right? Whatever happened to the good ol days when processing issues didn't occupy the majority of your day?Nowadays, its like bend over and grab your ankles every time I go check the boards.

This iBill letter made more sense when I was told that iBill worked a deal with a bank that opened up more opportunity for securing merchant accounts for their clientele. Unfortunately for the adult sector, this bank could not offer the same deal to high risk clients.

How can they possibly manage a portfolio of Adult only and stay under the Visa chargeback %?

If thats an issue (which i dont think it is as many many adult clients have lower chargebacks and higher volume than the mainstream clientele) than this issue would also affect paycom and ccbill since they process almost exclusively adult.
