sys.reg: WTF ?

So I saw this sys.reg file in my program files folders and I deleted it on my W98 box.

Now I did some maintenance on that pc because of weird probs, at restarting it said it could not find that sys.reg file, but everything works fine.

There was some crap in that file and that is why I killed it, it had startpage and other MSIE shit in there, now, although it is crappy I have the error popup at startup, I found the same file on my new (this one) pc, this is what is in this one:

-----
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Start Page"="http://revolto2.da.ru/"
"Search Page"="http://revolto2.da.ru/"
"Search Bar"="http://revolto2.da.ru/"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run]
"sys"="regedit /s sys.reg"
-----

As you can see, any crap with .ru extensions is a reason to get rid of it in my book.

Any idea how to get rid of the error popup on my W98 box, or should I look for anmother verison of this file (like this one) and put it back in there?

I'm clueless with these things.

I think even if you try changing the file and leaving it as sys.reg .. the file is gonna get replaced with this one again, prolly recopies it when there's a difference in size.

I didnt know they made those kinda things that actually MODIFIES the reg. hit me up on icq ... I'll make you go through a process and it might work (requires a bit of messaging thats why im saying icq)

Will do, thanks. Note that my startpage is NOT set to the lines there, although it might look like that. Maybe a fix I used earlier prevents that.

Naughty:

Startup regedit.exe (Start->Run->type regedit)

Now find the key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur
rentVersion]

Now click on the folder called 'Run'

In the right-side window, find the name 'sys', and delete it (rightclick it, choose Delete)

Close RegEdit, and it's off your system.
