Progressive works but do not go progressive till you know the deck.

If the deck is spent in the way of face cards do not go progressive.

I've won good on it and have gottin bent over by it as well.
Ya better off going with that weird gut feeling. You know the one when you regret that you didnt drop another 20 on the bet and the cards go in play?

5 losses on $20.00 buck bets progressive.

HEhe fun...
$20, $40, $80, $160, $320...

At 320.00 ya take a sip of gin to decide on $640 if you loose the 5th.

Sucks don't it?

I am kinda superstitious on a couple things when I play Jack.

1: Always watch the table for 5-6 hands, but thats just safety the superstitious part is the fact that I goto have the first chip I intend to place on the table must rubbed in cleaveage and then centered on a nipple for 5 minutes...

i only play at $5 tables...you'd be surprised at how much you can walk away with and if you lose, its not that hard on your pocket...also gives you some time to see what the deck is like and what the table is like...

HINT: always sit 2nd to last chair (left to right) at a table......odds are REALLY in your favor as far as winning hands!!!!!!!

progressive works when you implement a hit and run routine on two deck tables. card counting is also a fairly simple edge anyone can learn with enough practice.

if you arent playing blackjack with an advantage, increasing your bed will only hasten your demise. If your goal is to last as long as possible, then bet the minimum, you are going to loose in the long run anyway. If you want to play blackjack learn to count, its not as hard as the casinos want you to think it is.

If you've got the bankroll..sure..but think about this:

Living by that rule, on $25/hand..if you've lost 5 hands in a row let's say..you will eventually be risking $800 on the 6th hand to be +$25 overall.

I like the 1-1-3-1 strategy. One bet, win, one bet, win, 3 bets, win, back to one bet. You lost the 3rd bet and you've only lost $25. You make the 'pass', win 3 in a row following this strategy, and you've made 500% profit.

Mathematically, your best odds are to win 3 in a row in BJ. The odds drop off significantly after 3 in a row from what I read..

Of course..odds are against you to begin with..and keep in mind this does not take into consideration splits or double-downs..

Doubling your losses only works if 2 conditions are true:

1) You have an unlimited bankroll

2) You have a casino willing to to take an unlimited sized bet

Unfortunately, those 2 conditions are impossible. The house still has an edge.

If your starting bet is $25 look how fast your bets will have to grow.

----------------
1 25
2 50
3 100
4 200
5 400
6 800
7 1600
8 3200
9 6400
10 12800
11 25600
12 51200
13 102400
14 204800
15 409600
16 819200
17 1638400
18 3276800
19 6553600
20 13107200

And keep in mind.. you need to have $26,214,375 to make 20 bets!!

God forbid it takes 21 bets to win.. cuz then your bankroll will have to be $52 Million bucks.

Hey Brett,

That only works if you know the order of the shoe. The cards are random. It doesn't matter where you sit. The odds are exactly the same.

This is from the Wizard of Odds website. Everything on this site is based on the mathematics of gambling.

This is the from the "Truth about betting systems" article:

The Martingale (double after every loss) system

Every week I receive two or three e-mails asking me about the betting system by which a player doubles his/her bet after a loss. This system is generally played with an even money game such as the red/black bet in roulette or the pass/don't pass in craps and is known as the Martingale. The reasoning behind those who believe it is that by doubling your bet after a loss, you will always win enough to cover all past losses plus one unit. For example if a player starts at $1 and loses four bets in a row, winning on the fifth, he will have lost $1+$2+$4+$8 = $15 on the four losing bets and won $16 on the fifth bet. The losses were covered and he had a profit of $1. The fallacy is the promise of guaranteed winnings by using the Martingale. Occasionally the player will lose several bets in a row and will reach a point where he doesn't have enough money to double.

In order to prove this point, I created a program that simulated two systems, the Martingale and flat betting, and applied each by betting on the pass line in craps (which has a 49.29% of winning). The Martingale bettor would always start with a $1 bet and start the session with $255 which is enough to cover 8 losses in a row. The flat bettor would bet $1 every time. The Martingale player would play for 100 bets, or until he couldn't cover the amount of a bet.In that case he would stop playing and leave with the money he had left. In the event his 100th bet was a loss, he would keep betting until he either won a bet or couldn't cover the next bet. The person flat betting would play 100 bets every time. I repeated this experiment for 1,000,000 sessions for both systems and tabulated the results. The graph below shows the results:

http://www.wizardofodds.com/gambling/scam.html

If you still don't believe him he's put his money where it mouth is. (taken from the bottom of that scam.html page)

The Wizard of Odds Challenge
Despite all the evidence I have supplied I continue to get challenges via e-mail from people who believe their individual systems are the exception to the rule and really work. These challenges usually come with a request that I waste my time writing a free simulation program to prove or disprove the author's system. Contrary to what some may think, I do not sit around all day with nothing to do but test betting systems. So in an effort to give the true believer a fair chance to prove me wrong, I will bet your $2,000 against my $20,000 that your system won't win a negative expectation game over a billion trials.

When I go to AC, if there's room, I'll play at the progressive blackjack tables. I won over $3k at one of those tables last summer. I just played the first progressive bet (where you're betting you'll win two hands in a row) and if the table is hot, you'll clean up.

You guys arent talking about progressive betting, youre talking about the Martingale system, which is inherently flawed because all table games have a minimum and a maximum bet posted. Lower minimum bet tables have a lower max, and higher minimum ones have a higher max....this is done to prevent people from using Martingale.

Where is Rich C to give a primer on his progressive blackjack betting system?
