Spalding Gray Found Decayed In River

Anyone remember him? He was famous for rambling monologues like ?Swimming to Cambodia.?

I inferred that part. He'd been missing for 2 months, was pulled from the river and identified from dental records. Probably a gooey mess.

I caught parts of his monologue on IFC I think about a month or two ago, he's a weird character thats for sure. Link isn't coming up for me, any mention of possible suicide? I know he was depressed.

Yeah, the article strongly alluded to that by saying he was known to be "deeply troubled."

Spalding Gray, shown in 2000, was known to have been deeply troubled and had attempted suicide in the past.
This attempt worked. sad.

If anyone could do it, he could.

I'm gonna miss that guy. An amazing talent and a fascinating person.

fuck that sucks. only thing i ever saw him in was Swimming to Cambodia and a few Letterman appearances. Very talented writer, to write a monologue and deliver it so it sounds like you're just talking to the audience can't be easy. To get people to go to a movie theater to watch that is almost impossible, in fact he's the only one i can think of that did it who isn't a standup comedian.

sometimes being smart is a bitch, he probably outthought himself into depressions his whole life. like a Woody Allen.

Not only was he a talented writer and actor, but he was also a porn star in the 70's.
