'CAN-SPAM' Laws... what a fucking joke

Okay, months later im still getting the same ammout of spam (maybe even more)...

The difference since the law passed? - Its being sent from (or at least routed through) non-US servers, sent to non-US based companies and processors.

So basically its done nothing to stop spam, and sent any profits spam was giving to americans overseas.

I think this backs up the point that the spam solution needs to be on the technical side of things, not laws which only certin countries need to follow.

I run a 4free style site, and now im supposed to put "SEXUALLY EXPLICIT" in every subject line, even though its all double opt-in??? Soon mail filters will simply stop every message with those words in the subject.

The US Government can make as many laws as they want, but all its doing is giving a boost to other countries economies.

Discuss.

If you run a true double opt in list you are exempt fromn the amendments that came into effect on May 19th.

Talk to a lawyer to be sure...but that is what ours has said.

Yeah thats what I heard also, but it seems like every sponsor is asking that you do this for "all" e-mail promotions, even double opt-in.

Reading the law myself it was somewhat unclear tho
