"...attorney's fees of up to $3,332,500 and reimbursement of expenses up to $135,000, to be paid from the $9.25 million settlement fund..."

That's a pretty hefty chunk of money going to the lawyers. I wonder if that's based on an estimate from the firm, or just an absolute maximum based on a percentage of the settlement fund.

(Short form claimants get sent a whopping $50, and even then they may not get the full $50 if there are insufficient funds. I dare say the lawyers will be paid in full?)

I'm putting in a claim for account freezings.

I'm sure they will approve way more than they have cash for, and I'll end up with 40 cents....in like a year.

Doubt its even worth filling out

Does anyone know when paypal was supposed to have sent out the emails? From what I can gather I am a Class Member (account opened during that period, not in an excluded country etc) but I have never received any communication from Paypal about this.

B40, this seems to answer your question:

4. How Do I Know If I Am Part Of The Settlement?

The Court decided that everyone who fits this description is a Class Member:

All Persons who opened a PayPal account between October 1, 1999 and January 31, 2004.

In other words, you are a Class Member if you opened a PayPal account at any time between October 1, 1999 and January 31, 2004. Excluded from the Class are any judicial officer to whom this Litigation is assigned; PayPal and any of its affiliates; any current or former employee, officer, or director of PayPal; any residents of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, or the United Kingdom; and all Persons who timely and validly request exclusion from the Class pursuant to the Notice disseminated in accordance with the Notice Order.

Did they can you due to the adult rule? It might be harder to make a claim in that case?

" Payment will be made to your PayPal account."

How ironic, I wonder how many people who are allowed to make a claim still have access to their PP account.
