Listening to the new Metallica CD...

They are kind of going back to their older style of really hard stuff before Load and Reload... like Black Album.. I love it.. It rocks. I'm happy. That's my review..

Gotta disagree with you there. It's more rockin', I guess, but it sucks. You'd think they could afford a decent producer and studio time.

Black album was horrible. It's what caused them to fall into commercial hell. Go back to Kill em all, ride the lightening, master of the puppets and In justice for all. That's where the good shit can be found.

Blame Bob Rock.

How anyone can think Black wasn't good is beyond comprehension. Bob Rock helped them simplify their sound which brought sales near twenty million. Metallica deserved to be the biggest band in the world. The two albums that followed were also good and were popular but this new one has tanked. I think they tried too hard.

You're calling the Black Album their older style of hard stuff? Ahaha. You're crazy woman!

Throw in Kill 'Em All or I'll even let you slide with And Justice for All if you're looking for their older harder stuff.

High sales numbers do not make something "good".

As far as I'm concerned, Metallica broke up after the black album.

Metallica will never be the band they were in their golden years but I've still enjoyed almost everything they've done to date. It's still more closer to what real metal is suppose to be than anything else on radio. I don't know what to call stuff on radio, it's alternative pop with heavy guitars and bad singers. Metallica still stands out among them.

Now you have me interested in hearing their new cd.

They are still around? I hope it isn't one step closer to Brittney Spears.

I agree but i think most people liked the black album and some hardcore fans felt they sold out. Without the black album they wouldn't have reached millions of fans and played so many live shows. I think they did 400 shows on that tour.

Of course, they'll never be like they were back in the day. Lightning and Puppets are similar to what blizzard of oz and diary of a madman were for Ozzy.

St. Anus sucks ass - they tried to be "raw" and as a result they just have a really shitty album that could have been really good.

The intentionally singing out of key, and that fucking snare just bug the shit out of me.

I don't know why Bob Rock let them get away with that travesty.

I have the "No Life Til Leather Demo"

I like the version of "Hit The Lights" on that one better

my favorite Metallica album is still "Master Of Puppets"

St. Anger wasn't as bad as most made it out to be, but it was far from "classic" Metallica too.....way too much fucking snare drum and I prefer James' older style lyrics...

while i agree it sucks - id venture to guess that they spent a massive fuckload on it - and bob rock is probably one of the highest paid producers, although he makes me want to puke after what he did to metallica.

i bought it, listened, still go back to justice 4 all, master, etc ... pre- bob rock days.
