Oasis.... Where the fuck are they now?

The lead singer of this band was reported to have said "We will be bigger than the Beatles"..... boy does he ever need therapy. Although, I do like their song "Wonderwall", but other than that and a few other songs I can't think of right now, did they ever do anything even remotely comparable to the Beatles?

I think this band got owned...... and it was self-ownage at that. The worst kind of ownage.

The two brothers would fight all the time, members started to leave. They were a great band but they lost their focus.

I think the booze fucked them up... and then they forgot what music was and fizzled out. I've got a minidisc tape of them somewhere, which just goes to show how old they are.

They released an album within the last year called heathen chemistry. I prefer their older stuff but there's a few kickass tracks on this one, too.

Blur was a similar sounding band that I liked much better. I think they pulled off the Duran Duranny fake Beatles thing better than Oasis Unfortunately they seem to be lying low these days too

I just get the feeling that their egos and attitudes outweighed their worth. They're definitely a decent band with a few good tunes, but that's it, and that's probably all they'll ever be. At the moment they're not even worth mentioning in the same breath as the Beatles.

who the fuck cares what happened to Oasis? I wanna know what happened to Nirvana? They were getting really big in the early 90's and then BANG! nothing.

That ego shit helped them big time. When they made the comment about being bigger than the beatles, it was in the media all around the world. That comment made them rich. I think they've got more than a few good tunes. I think they're an excellent band. Of course, they're no beatles, but i don't think they ever really thought that either. Just milking the inevitable publicity.

Them too. But in my opinion Nirvana had a TON more great tunes than Oasis has, and Nirvana never touted themselves as being better than anyone else.

In spite of all the grunge-punk-ska-subhuman-keepingitreal-notsellingout bands that have come and gone over the past 20 years, my favorite band above all is still Led Zep.

The song definitely does remain the same. :D

That's the thing.... I prefer bands who got big based on the amazing creativity and worth of their music, not on pulling some ego stunt with the media.

I think they would have been as big as they were regardless. Just would have taken longer.

From where I sit, you're right. I've listened to the radio since I was an infant in the early 60's, and I can only name one noteable song by Oasis. They may have other "good" songs, but Wonderwall is the only one that comes to mind.

1 hit wonders? I hear their shit on the radio all the time still. Wonderwall, supersonic, morning glory. Even champagne supernova and don't look back in anger. And i think from the newest album, stop crying your heart out.

Maybe it's just the US, but they get plenty of air time down under.

Then why not piss off and go hit a "would you hit it" thread?

Choda --- okay, I recognize that song Champagne supernova, at least the title. I'll have to give it another listen I suppose.

All those songs have been played on the radio here in Canada too, tons of times back in the 90's mostly. But it's just funny that the ONLY song of theirs that really came to mind and stood out was wonderwall. I like wonderwall, it's a good song, but what have they done for us lately?

Perhaps they need to put out a concept album. Could they come within five miles of St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band though? ha ha.... doubt it.
