A friend of mine in high school had surgery to remove a brain tumor. They left a cotton ball in his head and it set up an infection that almost killed him and it left his face partially paralyzed. He ended up getting a couple of million dollars out of it. He's really lucky to be alive.

It's a shame she didn't make it.

This kind of thing has happened before, objects in the operating room being left inside the patient. Truly horrific.

If you have any surgeory done on you and you experience odd chronic pain, go to several doctors and have them run their tests and so on. You just never know.

That kind of thing happens all the time. Surgeons forget sponges, clamps, even surgical tools. Its actually common.

The crazy part about the story, is that essentially the woman killed herself by sucking the smoke of 2 packs of cigs a day into her lungs for decades. Now ultimately when the costs are all passed on from the bogus lawsuit, we're all going to pay to make her family instant millionaires for something that most likely had zero to do with her death. THAT is the fucked up story...

Operating rooms have standard procedures. Everything is counted prior to surgery and then counted again before closing to make sure nothing was left behind. So obviously either someone can't count or someone was not following procedure.

I wonder how many times she went in to the doctor to complain about the strange pain only to be patted on the back, handed some pain pills, and told that it was just the effect of her having smoked for all of those years.

IMO, western medicine is scam meant to separate you from your health and wealth.

Amazing, now days they probebly have a pill you take lol, she was very luck just to get almost an entire decade of life after poisening her self like that, the trully sick part is that she probebly continued to smoke even after the surgery. (probebly paid for by my tax dollars)

That happened to me once

But two years ago, a coworkers wife went to pop one out (a baby) and they did a c-section, leaving a cloth in her ... belly.

Two days later, there was a "weird smell coming from the wound" which they reopened and snatched out the rotting, bloody piece of surgical cloth.

I dunno if they sued cause I never liked them and could care less; but had to hear about it at the office until I told them all to eat my dirty ass, then left.

My mom had a C-section when she gave birth - the doctor left tissue paper in her body when they sealed her up. She's fine, but that's still fucked up on the doctor's part.

Yeesh. I guess operating rooms must be a lot like mechanic's garages. They take the shit apart, lay out all the different pieces, and when they put it back, there's like pieces left over. Oh, wait that's different, isn't it? Well, I just can't figure how they could misplace a hand towel in a body. There just aint all that much extra room in there for extra. Unless, it's kinda like when you eat so much your whole middle section gets swollen, and you wonder what the fuck is in there? Yeah.
