Yeah - my wisdom teeth are starting to come in and they're pushing my other teeth around - which by the way, OW GOD DAMNIT - so I got an appointment for Monday to get the xrays done, and if all looks fine for removal, that'll be done tuesday

I've started to do the same thing. My hair line is receeding and it's just my genes at work.

I've started shaving my head. Not bald, but really closely cut. It's low maintenance and the chicks dig it.

You could always shave it off and just make it seem like this is the look you're going after. Of course once you do this, growing it back is not going to be easy.

I'm dealing with it too. My advice is to accept it and deal with it. When I get to the point of absurdity, I'm going to turn into Mr. Clean, complete with ear rings. Chicks dig muscle guys with bald heads and ear rings.

Edit: I'm keeping the goatie, it'll go well with the bald head and accentuate what a bad ass I am.

The newest treatment is follicle transplants...not as painful looking and you don't have those terrible plugs...

http://www.news-medical.net/?keyword...e%20Transplant

As to Nioxin...it works to a point to help keep what you've got; but, it doesn't reverse at all.

As to the wisdom teeth, take ibuprofen and aspirin if you can tolerate it. Great combo for facial pain. Drink through a straw and pray you don't get dry sockets.

I'll give you the ones I know.

My dermatologist says most times it is caused by the pore getting smaller or clogged by excess scalp oil. It gets dry, harder to take off with mere shampoo, then the pore cant breath, and hair starts thinning.

He recommended my brother to go bold first so he could treat deep his scalp and specially sent him scalp massages to stimulate the blood flow. It was more a patience skill... he had to wash his scalp twice a day and massage for 1 hour every f...ng day.

It did work.

Of course it is all about genetics and hormones.

There is no way to stop the hair loss; but, there are things you can do to slow it down.

Wearing a hat clogs the pores, suffocates the scalp. One of the first things men do when they begin to lose their hair is cover it up. It's the worst thing they can do, because it only makes the condition worse.

Take the hat off and let your scalp breathe. That's common sense, not an old wive's tale.

Drinking water improves circulation and facilitates nutrients to go to the places needed, like your head. Cleanses toxins from your body. Last I looked, the head was a part of the body.
Also common sense.

I'm not getting into a discussion about soda, which has ingredients in it...particularly carbonation, which is just plain bad for you on so many levels.

If you read further, you would have seen that I also suggested follicle transplantation, if he chose to go that route.

Nioxin has shown some results in staving off further loss of hair; but, it is not anything which will allow hair to grow back.

I also live with a man who is bald. Add several years of school and that's where I got it. Not BS. Not old wive's tales. Just plain old common sense and some knowledge.

No.

But, soda is simply not good for you.

Interestingly enough, my husband, who is bald, stopped drinking soda and started to increase his water intake. Areas on his head, which were totally smooth are now showing signs of growth.....

Looking into the ingredients of soda, there are ingredients which are not conducive to health, including hair loss.....

Nothing stops genetics. At best, one can change a life style and slow down the process....for a little while...but nature will always win.

The tendency to go bald is a genetic thing, the rate at which you actually lose your hair is determined in part by what you do to your head and to your body.

The no hats thing is something even your hairdresser will tell you, you don't need a doctor for that. Anything that clogs the follicles or interferes with the ease that hair can come out of your scalp is a total no no.

I have been taking Propecia since the day it hit the market. I got it even before my doctor knew about it.

I have a full head of hair and without Propecia I am sure I would like like my older brother who has visible hair loss.

Cake and pizza and butter, while not great for your body, doesn't have carbon dioxide....carbonation......you're supposed to exhale that, not ingest it.

http://www.us.airliquide.com/en/busi...pli/carbon.asp

If you want to have a discussion on healthy eating habits, so your organs last longer, sure...stop eating crap and stick to foods that don't come out of a box.

I don't think I've read more bullshit in one thread.

Hats don't have anything to do with hair loss.

http://www.askmen.com/sports/health_...ns_health.html

'In order for the hair to fall out, the hat would have to be so tight that it cuts circulation to the follicles. So no, wearing hats does not cause hair loss. Could you just imagine how many pro sports players would be bald if that were the case?'

Lack of water. If that was true you wouldnt see homeless people walking around looking like wolfen.

Clogged follicles. Totally false.

Your diet has nothing to do with hair loss... carbonated drinks, hats, all that stuff is bullshit.

Every man in here will start to go bald at some point in there life, the severity and point in time it starts all depends on your genes.

The male androgenic hormone DHT binds to your hair follicle receptors and begins to restrict blood flow to your follicle... depriving them of blood & oxygen. Eventually they die and no more hair will grow.

This is because the lack of bloodflow, oxygen and nutrients to the follicle keep it from producing the quality hair you were used to. There are phases your hair will go through, from thick, thin, thinner, etc to no more hair.

Finasteride (propecia, proscar), rogaine, shampoos, etc are all anti-androgen (DHT blockers) in some form. Topical or oral... it's the only thing that can slow it down.

But depriving yourself of DHT can result in lower libido and erectile disfunction. Yay.

Of course there is the hair transplants of your own real hair (from areas of your head that aren't harmed by DHT).. but this requires donor hair. If you're real bald the end result will most likely be a very very thin head of hair.

Hair cloning is in the works and I think is already being done in Mexico, but it's still in the works. In a few years i'm willing to bet there will be some good options available.

I'd just go with 1mg finasteride everyday to slow it down and possibly regrow some back... but once you stop it's gonna continue falling out.

exactly. i don't think wearing a tight hat would be good for somebody already with thinning hair BUT u could put a tight wool hat on a person with a normal head of hair for a year and they would not lose their hair - their hair might not be in good shape but it wouldn't fall out.
