There are no good "wholesale" dropshippers. You're going to be paying near retail or above so your target market will have to be unsmart.

Agreed. All good dropshippers get their products whored out on eBay for eventually a couple dollars profit per item. However, since he will be focusing on website sales, there is still an opportunity for a good dropship program. Hit me up on ICQ and I will see what I can put together.

You raise some valid point. Unless a client's website has the VOLUME to justify steep discounts from the drop shipper, drop shipper prices (on the average) are quite close to retail rates.

Another issue to consider: customer service costs--you have to bear that. If not, the drop shipper will put that cost in their price -- yet another margin squeeze.
