fixing your credit report

I have a few things on my credit report that shouldn't be on there. I know I can just write a letter to the 3 credit companies and dispute the charges, but is there a professional company that I can hire to fix my credit report? I did a search on Google and found a few places, but I dont know if I should trust them or not, because I feel kinda scared giving my social security number out. Any info would help me alot. Thanks!

I'd say do it yourself - you're sure of who has your file & where they are at in updating it + it won't cost you money.

Get a copy of your report - if you've paid off whatever is put there as a dispute, get a letter that states that the account was closed and paid in full *acquitted* - if it's stuff that's older than 7 years, it shouldn't be there any longer - if it's stuff that you never applied for you need a copy of a police report that it is fraud. Then contact all the credit bureaus with a letter requesting them to rectify the errors & within the next month & to send you a copy of a new credit report with adjusted scores.

I hope that helps!

Thanks, well one of my main problems is this: I just got a mortgage and a car loan in the same month. Both my mortgage and the auto shop must of searched 20+ banks before they got my loan. So I have about 20+ hits on my credit report of banks looking at my report which lowered the score alot. Is it possible to get all that off of there?

I fixed mine by myself, it was very easy, wrote the same letter, copied it three times, mailed it out and added a sob story to it and my credit shot from 500 to 750 within a month and all of the charges on there were removed. Took about 15 minutes of my time.

Buy your Reports online,
They have an online dispute section.
It is mostly just picking options, no need to write anything.

It is quick and simple, this works for 2 of them, the third one you have to call.....
