Wireless 802.11 G is OUT.. WELCOME Wireless N!!

Anyone here replace their Wireless G or B with the new Wireless N???

It really kicks ass.. Blows Wireless G away.. The range is mindblowing compared to Wireless G and the SPEED is noticably faster..

When I bought my new laptop 2 months ago, I was sure to have the Wireless G card pre-installed.. Most laptops do now days. Before youd have to have a ugly network card hanging out the side to go wireless.. Wireless G already installed in the new laptops is a great feature.. It was faster and better than wireless B and wireless A and was supposed to be the future..

Well shit... So much for the future of wireless G. Now there is wireless N. And the jump in performance is HUGE.. G will be and has to be replced with N.. ITs THAT MUCH BETTER!

So I yet again have a wireless network card hanging out the side of my PC..

But holy fuck.. With wireless G, in some areas of my home the connection would get weak.. Slow... Id always have connection, but things would not always be full strength..

With this new Wireless N card, not only is the connection strong, but the range is awsome.. I can get in my car and drive all the way down the street and still have a connection.. A STRONG connection.

I suggest anyone who has range problems with wireless G networking who live in a large home, or anyone who wants to increase the range so you can have a stronger and faster connection outside the home get one of these things.. Its great.

FYI.. You have to buy both the Router and the network card for it to work..

Belikin is the only one to make it, and it just came out about 3 weeks ago.

check it out.

BP4L Approved.

Well 250K square ft coverage would be a circle 550 feet in diameter with your house in the middle. Hey why not just provide all your neighbors with free internet while your at it.

CHECK OUT THIS FEATURE!!!!!!!!

There is a feature where your signal isnt even broacasted so no one can even sniff or see there is a signal!!

Not only does it have the standard encription that wireless G has so no one can use your network without the key or 128bit encription codes, with Wireless N there is a feature that the signal is not even broadcasted so no one will even see your signal even if they tried...

Its totally stealth..

First of all G is slow slow slow compared to N..

Second your NEIGHBORS should never be sharing your network.. DOnt you use the encription? Even with "G" I dont understand why people dont lock thier network. Why the hell would you share it?? This shouldnt even be an issue if you know what you are doing..

And with G, the neighbors can SEE your connection.. They of course cant use your connection with G if you use the encription password shit, but they can see your connection..

With N, you can go stealth.. No one can even tell a connection exists..

When friends come over to my home, and bring thier laptops, they seach for availble netoworks on thier laptops and can even see my network.. I have to go into my settings and unstealth it, and then give them the encripted 128bit pass key to get in..

So unlike wireless G where EVERYONE can see your netork, wireless N they cant even see it.

We have been thinking about doing something in the neighborhood our selves.

I live in Mexico, so it is a lot easier to get away with.

No doubt you could.

Im sure apartment owners are going to be doing this for all thier residents.

Dank lives in downtown porltand in a sky rise apartment. He has a laptop with wireless G pre-installed in it.. He can pick up wireless G connections for free in his apartment so he never pays internet.. But its of course slow as wireless G is and in many parts of his apartment the signal is weak..

I brought my laptop there yesterday... There is some fool using a wireless N router with no protection.. And I am picking up the signal better than dank's wireless G, but not as strong as I normally would..

I thought it was strange it was weaker than normal. Here I was telling dank how strong it was and it wasnt as strong. It was just a bit better than his G connection.

We got in my car and drove 2 blocks down the street and the signal got MAXED..

The dude with the wireless N brodcast was fucking 2 blocks away 4 buildings away from danks apartment and I was getting a strong faster signal than wireless G..

Amazing..

Nope thats wireless G..

3 weeks ago that would have been the fastest and the best to buy..
I noticed both linksys and netgear about 3 months ago came out with a "faster better" wireless G system..

Own it.. Now the router is sitting in my garage on the floor collecting dust.

You guys have to realize.. The future is wireless HDTV streaming..

Cant really do it with wireless G..

Wireless N is the answer for this.

This is the real reason it was created. Its the future.

From PC magazine.

"On the receiving end, wireless N can take advantage of something that is normally the enemy of wireless networks: multipath propagation. Multipath is basically the way in which RF (radio frequency) signals bounce off walls, ceilings, and other obstructions and then arrive with different amounts of delay at the receiver. wireless n technology is able to process and recombine these multiple RF signals using complex algorithms."

Not sure what the fuck that means..

But it sounds good ehh?

Maybe that is why its so strong in say downtown area.

Reaching almost 3 blocks in a sky scraper area with tons of potential blocks.. The signal is just bouncing all over the place..

I bet I could have drove 6 blocks and still gotten the same signal

Me: Hey dad, for just a few bucks more you can cancel AOL and that slow dialup connection and get on Cable or DSL.. Something faster!!

Dad: Dialup works good enough for me..

I mean sure it works just fine for ya. But just letting you know, that there is something quite a bit faster.. Not just a little faster.
A lot faster out there.

But yeah, there are some people who love dialup. DOnt mind surfing the net slow..

But some like fast.. Especially those who want to stay up with the future trends of the industry we call ourselves a part of.

Again realize The future is wireless HDTV streaming..

Wait..

I just realized.. For your neighbors to take advantage of this idea you have, they must all first ALSO have the Wireless N netork cards.. Not just you and your routher, but they must have the N network cards... Not G..

Thanks for the info. I was looking to upgrade to the GS but I may wait and check this out further. My range sucks with the standard G (big house). This may be the ticket.

just know the 802.11N spec is not certified yet. The protocol could change at any time. As long as the router and cards are upgradable, no problem.

Just installed a dual 802.11a/g setup, and the a really picks up where g leaves off. I'll have to look at the specs for N though.

Oh, and the "stealth" mode is available on just about any of the newer linksys routers.

it will make a big difference

Its been certified by the BP4L.. Thats all you should need.

Only God himself can make this more "Certifiable" than I..

It's just to turn off "Allow Broadcast of Name (SSID)", I can even do that on my B.

Own it.. Now the router is sitting in my garage on the floor collecting dust.

Belkin sucks

They put a bold "WPA" on their PCI WLAN card boxes when in fact it has no WPA at all and even when you download the newest drivers from their website there is no WPA.

Had to install a driver from a Hewlett Packard card (which uses the same broadcom chipset) and finally had WPA running

Is there a significant difference when using just the Belkin Pre-N notebook network card WITHOUT the Pre-N router?

i currently have a Netgear Wireless G 108mbps router + card. It does the same stealth feature of not broadcasting itself. You have to manually enter in the network name. And then it's encrypted too.

Wireless N seems bad ass though. However I'm not going to get it for a while.

I got a satellite card for my laptop, for those hard to reach areas that don't have wireless access, like my boat.
