laser vision correction

Has anyone had this done? Anyone thinking about doing it? I was thinking of going in April. What are your experiences with it?

Thanks in advance.

I want to get it done when I'm back from Vegas too....

All I heard bad about doing it is it can make your eyes itchy/dry for awhile after...

I've thought about doing this as well, but haven't really looked into it yet.

Had mine done Nov 2000.

Unbelievable results, no problems reading the very bottom line on the eye charts.

Back then it cost like 2800, i think.

As for the whole experience... You go in for a checkout... to see if you're a candidate for laser correction. They tell you about lasik/PRK... lasik is the best... after the checkout process, you see the doctor and he reviews and tells you how the process goes and what your results should/will be.

Day of the operation.. you walk in, wait until called... go inside this room.. lay down... doctor preps your eyeballs... sucks them into position, slices the flap back... machine moves over your eye... you can see the laser... it smells like something burning.. almost like at the dentist if he's drilling... once the machine is done... he flushes your eye.. puts the flap back.. and makes sure it's all clean/flat.

Next eye.. samething.

whole experience was about 10 minutes max. When you come out, you can still see but your vision is blurry and not light sensitive yet. They give you these big black glasses and tell you to go home for 24 hours and do NOTHING.

Well, DO THAT... go home and sit with a cold face cloth over your eyes and don't let light in. My eyes were very light sensitive for about 1 hour... but it goes away... THAT DAY .. probably 8 hours after the operation i looked at the tv and could actually see it.. not 100% crisp but the vision was good. Next morning, your eyes are great... you can see everything but you get a bit blurry if you don't use your eye drops like they said. I used my eyedrops the whole time until he said I didn't have too.. i forget now..

To this day, my eyes are great... you will exerpience sharp/brilliant colors... and a whole new feeling with your eyes done... I highly recommend it.

If I did it again today, i'd not search out the cheapest price.. i'd look for a doctor that has a proven track record.

IT'S WELL WORTH IT FOR LASIK...

I've wanted to do it for a while too, but I heard to many stories about night blindness from it.

I've been useing the night and day contact that you leave in for a month then put a new pair in. they are great... but would still like lasik one day.

Perfect man, good to hear it worked out for you. Yes price is never an issue for me. But i always just like to see what the going rates are. I still need to read up a bit more on the different methods.

Yeah i'm sure i'll be doing nothing when i get back. I'll just sleep it out. Thanks for th reaply man. Can't wait to get it done.

What exactly do you mean by the night blindness? I've read a few things about it after the opperation, but it does not last too long. What have you heard?

It's not "night blindness" .. it's a halo effect ...

At night, for a little while whenever i'd look at a street light it would give me a halo effect.. it's not bad at all.. just imagine you're driving in the rain and looking thru the windshield... the halos are there but it's not night blindness or anything.

Trust me, my girlfriend and I both had lasik and she never saw a halo.. i did but it's not bad at all.

night blindness, having lesser ability to see in the dark, and or taking longer to adjsut from bring ot dark agian (like when a car passes)

I only know 2 people that have had it done, and both have a harder time seening at night. and one is so bad she doesnt drive when its dark anymore.

I know its gotten better, but for the 500 a year it is for my contact I dont have any problems with them and can still see great in the dark.
I figure even an other year or two and it will be that much better. technology is moving to fast to do something thats still new, and has risks that they are.
