I believe they can.....but, none? That seems a wee bit unusual.

Animals are much more resiliant than humans and smaller ..
They'll hitch a ride with the wave to somewhere somewhat safe .
even if smaller animals slam into buildings and shit and be just fine ..

Kinda like when my ferret flips arse over tea kettle down the stairs ..
Id be beyond dead ..
He makes it throught without a thought .

I've always thought animals had a 6th sense about this kind of stuff. Cory and I were talking yesterday about how his dog was acting strange - would go into his crate and not come out. Sure enough, he posted a few hours later - there was a waterspout sighted near where he lives.

(cue Twilight Zone music........ ;) )

Yup..horses can sense a twister coming...animals are sensitive to their surroundings and the tiny changes before big natural events like that. We drown our senses in technology and noise, so we don't notice them anymore.

Rescuers look for survivors at Yala Reserve Wildlife Park, 200 kilometers (125 miles) southeast of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004. Wild life officials expressed surprise Wednesday that they found no evidence of large-scale animal deaths from the weekend's massive tsunami, indicating that animals may have sensed the wave coming and fled to higher ground. Remember most animals can sense things like earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados anyways. But also most have FAR superior hearing. People heard this wave 1/2 mile away so imagine how far away these animals heard it and leopards and elephants can run at 40+ MHP if they have to.

It almost sounds like the Noahs ark Story. All the human deaths and animals surviving this really is some biblical shit...

They can sense the vibrations. We lost that shit when we became more advanced. Anyways like I said if the people could run as fast as a lepoard not as many would have died. And face it how many elephants and leopards were on the beach?

maybe they already detect the earthquake and make a tsunami before it hit in the shore.

Like I said most of the people that died were near the water. These animals were alreay inland somewhat. Also the fact thes sensed it probally several mintues earlier than the humans also helped. So is the fact they can haul ass at over 40 MPH. Once the wave hit shore it wasn't going 500 MHP so it probally took a few more minutes to reach where the animals were. By then they could have ran several miles away.

Yes, animals do have a better sense for nature related things. Sadly, i'm pretty sure the count will raise up as we go on.
