I think he's loved because he consistently created original music and he has been pretty prolific (in other words, far from a one hit wonder) The only person I can think of that has had any profound effect on music since Elvis is Bob Marley. You can hear his influence in all forms of music today including hip-hop, rock, punk, "alternative". He sells more albums than the Beatles, Zeppelin, and all the other heavy hitters each year. And in every far reach of the globe the name Bob Marley is recognizable. |
